Penn Ties
Dr. Brown was the speaker at commencement at (his alma mater) the University of Pennsylvania in 1986, shortly after he won the Nobel Prize: http://www.upenn.edu/commencement/hist/speakers38.html
The irony is that it was a very hot day and the University had not put out enough water for the black-robed graduates sitting on the football field. While Dr. Brown -- a physician -- spoke, people were literally passing out in front of him.
