Ambiguity to be rectified

(from article at first π) "is the label attached to the Welsh language of the 12th to 14th centuries, of which much more remains than for any earlier period" (emphasis added)

I don't know enough about this subject to fix. However, I'm not sure to what the quoted language refers. Is it that more of the writing of this Welsh langauge from this period survives, that more of the language from this period is incorporated in modern Welsh, or something else. Probably one or two words added would suffice to clear up ambiguity. --Fuhghettaboutit 17:34, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think they're just trying to say that Middle Welsh has a large literary corpus, while Old Welsh consists of comparatively little. --

Suggested resource

Hi all,

A possibly useful resource - there was a three-year academic project to produce a digital corpus of medieval Welsh prose (using 28 manuscripts covering ~100 texts from 1350–1425). They're presented as plain text, with links to digitised images where available.

Any objection to my adding it to the external links? (I'm currently working with the AHRC, who funded the project, hence why I'm leaving this note here in the first instance...) Andrew Gray (talk) 16:33, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Adding it to the External links sounds like a good idea.

Orthography

There are three MW letters included in the Latin Extended Additional Unicode block:

LATIN SMALL LETTER MIDDLE-WELSH LL (U+1EFB)
LATIN SMALL LETTER MIDDLE-WELSH V (U+1EFD)
LATIN SMALL LETTER Y WITH LOOP (U+1EFF)
LATIN CAPITAL LETTER MIDDLE-WELSH LL (U+1EFA)
LATIN CAPITAL LETTER MIDDLE-WELSH V (U+1EFC)
LATIN CAPITAL LETTER Y WITH LOOP (U+1EFE)

A) They should be mentioned.

B) Any idea how to support them? Everything in the LEA block displays for me except these three... — LlywelynII 08:30, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
