The Quebec Chronicle Telegraph announced the growth of Festival Nadeshicon in 2012 on its premium paying online newsplayer:

lefil, a community newpaper from Université Laval, announced the coming of Festival Nadeshicon in 2011. The local Japanese association Amitié Québec-Japon was also present to hold a bazaar and promote their yearly events in Quebec City. A fundraising activity was put forth to raise funds to aid the Japanese people after they had lived their worst earthquake yet. The money will go to the Red Cross.

Hi all, Maxime Girard from Festival Nadeshicon here. I just noticed this wiki page up and I'd like to help make it clearer. I'm not a champion with Wikipedia editing, but I noticed a few things that would need editing for this Nadeshicon wiki page. If someone is good with Wikipedia, here below are some facts about the festival to implement. I'll add references, proof and such as I come by it. If anyone else is also good at finding pertinent links and such, by all means please do so. Oh, and Club Animé Québec (CAQ) was founded in 1992.

Here are some bits of information we can use from 2009 to 2012. I'll get the full roster of guests for each edition as I find my lists. I suggest to add the convention date of 2010 as it was truly the first time we held the event. The precursor was a cultural gathering in 2009.

2009 : New activity at Club Animé Québec souper culturel (Go tables managed by the UL Go Club, sushi served throughout the evening, a Japanese teacher told her many experiences in Japan, Calligraphy demonstrations) at the Jean-Charles-Bonenfant Pavilion.

2010 : 3 Clubs for one day + Japanese cultural convention

3 Clubs for one day : Collaboration between CAQ + UL Go Club + Seigneurs de Naguère

Japanese cultural convention : Harajuku Québec begins collaborations with club animé québec. Evenings were supposed to be dancing nights with DJ's (Harajuku Québec) and the afternoon managed by CAQ(Club Animé Québec) to organize Japanese cultural events. At the last minute Harajuku Québec left by lack or organization and club animé québec managed to turn around within 3 weeks to make their cultural event during the whole weekend. The Consul General of the time loans to CAQ cultural objects to expose during the festival and slowly develops a relationship of confidence with them and continu to do so year after year.

2011 : The year of successful financing, CAQ becomes a noneprofit organization and the festival acquires a name (Festival Nadeshicon)

Fusion of many ideas for the festival (cultural, anime, European inspiration, american inspiration) :

Note : We managed to integrate this year panels et the masquerade far more efficiently this year (conferences, workshops and activities)

Résult : Festival Nadeshicon : Popular culture (ex : anime, masquerade) / Traditional culture (dance, martial arts, religion, cuisine, calligraphy, etc)

This year was assisted and financed in part by a Play N Trade store that helped finance extra space for the festival and part of our publicity budget. We also had guests of honor from Europe (Card Captor Sakura voice actresses).
