Unsourced Far-Right Claim

WP:RS
before you can refer to this party as "far-right."

Additionally, I would recommend against accusing other users of vandalism (and violating

WP:AGF when you have explicitly referred to the edits of other users as "bad faith"). Saxones288 (talk) 01:39, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply

From my understanding the content is reliable because it is a direct source from a political party. It cannot necessarily be promotion to relay the party's specific platform points, not verbatim, but with the added effort to not paint the party in a particular light. Perhaps if you have grievances you can adjust the language used in describing these platform points - I invite you to do so. Consider, any secondary source about the party's platform would necessarily rely on using the Ontario Party's official platform as its own primary source. Furthermore, the definition of promotion provided by wikipedia does not match this situation. I will give you the benefit of the doubt, and I will not accuse you of having a conflict of interest in trying to remove the party's platform from the article for political motivated purposes. I will point out however that you appear to have left-leaning sympathies: "Never Vote conservative (note the small "c")" Let's be professional and impartial. We are writing an encyclopedia; we are not here to advertise party platforms and if secondary sources aren't mentioning party platform, they cannot be included on this website because then any Joe Blow can make his own party and go on about "gender identity theory in schools" or whatever latest batshit insane dogwhistles they can come up with and add it here. You're not understanding how
WP:V works and you also didn't answer my question on your relationship to this Party and why you are only editing about this Party. -"Ghost of Dan Gurney" 18:43, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply

Unsourced claim about conspiratorial views, manipulative language

Quote from current version of article as of May 31, 2022:

The party has espoused conspiratorial views, including expressing opposition to a "digital ID" program it has linked to the World Economic Forum.[25]

The first part is an unsourced claim about conspiratorial views, which is ostensibly supported by the second part and citation [25]. This is not the case:

  • Citation [25] links to Ontario Party's own tweet, which makes no such claim. The claim is thus "original research".
  • The tweet linked to by [25] indeed mentions WEF and Digital ID. Ostensibly, associating the two entities constitutes a conspiratorial view. This is false, as they are indeed associated:
  1. Ontario government has an official Digital ID program (https://www.ontario.ca/page/digital-id-ontario)
  2. Ontario government's Digital ID program cites World Economic Forum in a footnote.
  3. World Economic Forum promotes Digital ID programs: (https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2021/01/davos-agenda-digital-identity-frameworks/) and cites Canada as a successful example.
  4. World Economic Forum's Digital ID program cites Canadian Government as a partner: (https://ktdi.org/)

Needless to say, the phrase "has espoused conspiratorial views" is a political manipulation. Conveniently, the article is edit-protected. Shameful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.165.232.120 (talk) 17:13, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The cited tweet is from the Ontario Party's official account and reads, in part, "The Ontario Party stands firmly against Digital ID." The accompanying image with the tweet is a cell phone with the WEF's logo on it. While the Ontario government may cite the WEF and the WEF may promote Digital ID programs, this is a dog-whistle about the Great Reset and the usual hard right stuff about global elites tracking people. This is plainly conspiratorial. That said, further citations will be added. HamOntPoliFiend (talk) 17:51, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Was a party?

The lead says this group "was" a party. This group is still fundraising, putting out t social media posts, etc. They may not be registered/viableu bit it seems like a bit of synth:or ow use a primary source on currently registered parties to say this group has dissolved Big Money Threepwood (talk) 02:01, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Elections Ontario no longer lists the Ontario Party as a recognized, registered political entity in the province. --HamOntPoliFiend (talk) 14:18, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But does a government need to recognize you for you to be a political party? I'm not in Canada, but where I live we have lots of tiny rarely listed parties, but they continue to exist, have platforms, no/rare candidates, etc. In this case, I noticed this group is still actively fundraising. If they still exist, what are they? Big Money Threepwood (talk) 02:48, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Strictly speaking, yes. Ontario election law requires a party to be registered to be considered as such. Otherwise, a group would be an association of some sort. The Ontario Party does not appear to be incorporated as a nonprofit or any other kind of organization and a search of their website shows their donation button is inactive and their social media has not been updated since February of last year. Safe to say this organization is neither a registered political party, nor is it any kind of active political movement.HamOntPoliFiend (talk) 03:45, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To make sure my memory is correct, I just watched a 6 month old video of this guy campaigning (linked from the party page). 1) the video hurt it was so bad 2) when this guy runs again, does the page just flip back to "is"? What is the status of a party between runs but still sorta-trying? Is this guy/party even notable? His YouTube videos are clocking in hundreds of views. Once you consider bots, I may have been the first person to watch that 6 month old video. Big Money Threepwood (talk) 00:30, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
