Children

What's up with the listing of his children? That should be corrected. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.12.245.10 (talk) 00:34, 22 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary lock

Roy recently passed away, and now the page is seeing vandalism. Do we need to have the page temporarily locked from editing? 07:15, 11 February 2008 (UTC)~

Source for date of death?

Please provide a source for his date of death. I have seen no news of this. Thanks.--Evb-wiki (talk) 02:09, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there you have it. Right in the NYT. RIP & all that jazz. --Evb-wiki (talk) 02:12, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to those of you who were trying to update this article at the same time I was. Looks like we finally got it right. The cause of death was confirmed by the New York Times. Unfortunately, there are always a few people who will try to sabatoge an article like this by adding that the cause of death was a "shark attack." Article looks good now.

Offered a role in Rambo?

An Australian newspaper reports today that the claim that Scheider was offered the role of Rambo is a deliberate falsehood added to the article by a subeditor. The text of the article is here under the heading "Rambo Rubbish".

The claim is already tagged as unsourced. Given the suggestion it is deliberately wrong, I've removed it from the article until a source is provided. As always, other opinions and comments welcome. Euryalus (talk) 02:54, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2nd daughter

Posted August 2, 2016: *Scheider's other daughter Tiffany Smith does indeed exist. She was conceived while he was out of town filming on location in Florida for Jaws 2. He met her mother while she was waiting tables at the hotel where the cast and crew stayed during filming. Tiffany and her older half-brother were raised by their hard working but struggling single mother in and around Huntsville, Alabama, where they lived at the poverty level. Tiffany was unaware of who her father was until she was in her early twenties, at which time she was living in New Jersey and both worked and was enrolled in acting programs in Manhattan. It seemed that he may not have known of her until then as well. She made a few weekend visiting trips to his home on Long Island but I'm unsure if she became very close with he and his wife. I personally knew her from 2000 to 2002 when we worked together. She really had a heart of gold. The last I knew she was planning on moving to LA. and sadly I have not been able to locate her since. I hope that wherever she is that she is happy, healthy and loving life.</ref - first person acquaintance/friend>

I have removed the following claim (again): "In 1978,he had a 2nd daughter, Tiffany Smith by Deborah Smith." I've not seen this mentioned anywhere else, so there is no evidence this is true. If someone knows of/finds a source, please privide a cite. --Evb-wiki (talk) 23:59, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

the Sag Habor Express Thursday, februry 14 2008 Volume149 NO.27 t

I completely challenge the validity of the reference provided above. Of all the obituaries, books and coverage of Roy Scheider across his entire career there is not a single verifiable mention of a daughter named Tiffany with a woman also not mentioned anywhere and certainly not one of his two wives. He was essentially married from 1962 through to his death in 2008 - so this exceptional claim will need equally solid sourcing in order to be included in the article. Note it also falls under
WP:BLP as the information would effect his previous wives and acknowledged children if true. Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 18:31, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply

Bulldog fan

Out walking my bulldog in NYC upper east side, I had seen Scheider several times but he stopped me to inquire about JB whose grand dad Cherokee Morgan had won the Westminster as best bulldog. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.250.200.247 (talk) 17:27, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Where he lived

Nowhere in the article does it say that he lived the latter part (and most) of his life in the Hamptons (first in Saganopack and then in Sag Harbor). Instead it states where he died-- In a hospital in Little Rock.

Considering how much of a revered figure he was locally, it is at least noteworthy to state he was a Long Island resident as it is to state that he died in a hospital in Arkansas where he spent some days. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Enlinesix (talkcontribs) 01:30, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cause of his multiple myeloma? I would like to know if Mr. Scheider ever had a nuclear stress test. There is evidence that this test can cause multiple myeloma.

Movie Role He Turned Down

He was offered the role of Michael, not Steve in The Deer Hunter which he turned down to film Jaws 2. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.237.34.211 (talk) 03:46, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Esker Boxing Club from Lucan, County Dublin, Ireland

Before my edit, the first sentence of the article referred to "Esker Boxing Club from Lucan, County Dublin, Ireland". The club is not mentioned at all anywhere else in the article, so the fact that it's "from Lucan, County Dublin, Ireland" is needless detail in describing Scheider's life and career. Moreover, it doesn't make sense. How can a club be from Ireland? Perhaps it was founded by someone from Ireland, but there's no explanation of that here and no citation to back up the reference to the club. Regards, BuzzWeiser196 (talk) 11:38, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. I've removed it entirely, as it is indistinguishable from vandalism. - BilCat (talk) 20:28, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
