Lloyds and libel

After an enjoyable read of this article I have one query about the aftermath section. At the moment it says that Lloyds libeled the ship and it links to the defamation topic which is exactly what the source says. This doesn't make a lot of sense to me as I didn't think you can libel an inanimate object. From the context in the source it seems to relate to insurance, possibly some archaic derivative of liability, and that the insurance pay out was $200,000. I've done some googling and I can't find any other uses of libel in this context. Anyone else have any ideas? RicDod (talk) 21:01, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Edit's Needed to proceed with final review

The lead section does not comply with Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section as it is not what would be considered concise. You essentially copy and pasted the part about it's final voyage from the "Final voyage" section. The lead section should be a summary, not a full on article. I would also like you make the section on the rescue of the ship in the lead section more concise.

In the History Service History section it states "She cost $250,000 (equivalent to $6.62 million in 2019) to build." This does not seem very applicable to service history, and instead should be placed in the design and construction section of history.

In the History Service History section it states "In November 1891, Cayuga collided with the wooden package freighter Delaware off Cheboygan, Michigan." This is somewhat of a stub section of a paragraph, and I would like to see more info here, but if there isn't anymore info to find, I understand.

Units and tons

There were some odd numbers in here. For example "carrying capacity of 984 long tons". The source doesn't say that. It says "1000 tons". I have changed these numbers to match what the sources say. The source doesn't specify, but these are certainly not metric tons, and almost certainly long tons, not short tons. I have removed the conversions to short tons because they don't seem useful. I have also reduced the precision. "About 3000 tons" should not be converted with four significant digits.

I have also removed the conversions for register tonnage. This is not a measure of weight, and can't be converted to metric tons. GA-RT-22 (talk) 16:39, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There are two sources for this. Kohl says "lore has it that..." so he's just repeating a rumor he heard. McGreevy says one diver died, but doesn't say how. GA-RT-22 (talk) 12:28, 2 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
