Description

This article would cover all Fife-related articles such as places, famous people, museums, football and rugby clubs and churches to name a few. Examples would be: Kirkcaldy, Andrew Carnegie, Adam Smith, Dunfermline Abbey, Dunfermline Athletic, The Old Course and Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery. This could also help support articles that really do need a lot of work while keeping general maintenance. Examples would be: Methil, Dunfermline, Cupar and a lot of the smaller towns such as Kennoway and Lower Largo. Date of birth

DATE OF BIRTH--Dictionary of Canadian Biography states January 7; a brochure in Halifax says July 7??

The Toronto Globe (predecessor of The Globe and Mail) also notes the date of January 7, on Page 6 of the July 23rd Edition (Headline on Page 1, noting the "Empire Builder passes to Rest"). A quick check on Google yields 448 for January OR Jan 7 versus 88 for July OR Jul 7. A clear preference for January 7, but this is not a scientific sample nor is it authoritative. In an earlier search, I did note that several of those sites which gave a day of death gave only a year of birth, 1827. — Joe Kress 06:39, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

First name spelling: Sandford or Sanford?

In the article, Fleming's given name alternates between "Sandford" and "Sanford" (without the "d"). Which is it? It seems it is "Sandford" but unsure. - quanta (talk) 19:53, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There is a Wikipedia page for this park, which can be used both to provide some content for the Sir Sanford Fleming page, and can link the two pages together. The Sir Sanford Fleming PARK Wikipedia page already links to the Sir Sandford Fleming page, but not vice versa. The 'Family' section presently reads: "After the death of his wife Jeanie in 1888, Fleming's niece Miss Elsie Smith, daughter of Alexander and Lily Smith, of Kingussie, Scotland, presided over his household at "Winterholme" 213 Chapel Street, Ottawa, Ontario.[5]" However, after research 213 Chapel Street in Ottawa Ontario, I noticed the address does not exist. Given the historical weight of Winterholme, I gathered it might be a protected heritage property. As a result I researched and found out it is listed under the City of Ottawa's protected heritage sites, however the address is 309-311 Daly Ave [1]. Consequently, I am requesting that the aforementioned sentence in the 'Family' section be modified to: The 'Family' section presently reads: "After the death of his wife Jeanie in 1888, Fleming's niece Miss Elsie Smith, daughter of Alexander and Lily Smith, of Kingussie, Scotland, presided over his household at "Winterholme" 309-311 Chapel Street [5] [2], Ottawa, Ontario[6]."
