You know, I almost started working on Casilla because the whole name and birthdate forgery thing was fascinating! — GhostRiver 15:37, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox and lede
Countries/nationalities tend not to be linked, per
MOS:OVERLINK
Add "from 2004 to 2018" either after "in Major League Baseball" or "and San Francisco Giants"
"he was a big help to their bullpen initially" → "he was an initial boost to the bullpen"
Mention in lede that he was one of eight players present for all three of those WS championships
"but Casilla replaced Romo as the closer" → "but Casilla reclaimed the role"
Early life
"teams were more interested in younger prospects when scouting in the Dominican Republic" → "
scouts in the Dominican Republic were more interested in signing younger prospects
." (with the WLs)
Since the last sentence is expanded upon later, I would change that to a phrase along the line of "still under the name of Jairo Garcia", and have the revelation confined to that section.
"In 2002, Casilla began the year with the Arizona League Athletics." → "When the 2002 season began, Casilla remained with the Arizona League Athletics."
"so his minor league season did not start until" → "delaying the start of his minor league season until"
Oakland Athletics, first stint
"he made 3 appearances for them" → "he made three appearances for them" per
MOS:NUMBERS
If he was a
September call-up (as opposed to haphazardly called up like, oh, I don't know, Hans Crouse
, that should be linked)
"In his 4 outings" → "In his four outings" per
MOS:NUMBERS
"In 2005, Casilla started the season with Midland." → "Casilla started the 2005 season with Midland." That way 2004 and 2005 don't start the same way
"Before the 2006 season, in January," → "In January of 2006, during the MLB offseason,"
Use the conversion template on "94 mph"
"U.S. security concerns" → "US security concerns" per
MOS:USA
Apparently you can use periods in country acronyms as long as it's consistent, carry on
"into a bullpen that had Huston Street ... on the disabled list" → "into a depleted bullpen that had lost Huston Street ... to the disabled list"
"For the first time in 2008, Casilla opened the season on a major league roster." → "Casilla opened the season on a major league roster for the first time in 2008."
"he made 9 appearances" → "he made nine appearances" per
MOS:NUMBERS
I never fucking know what the rule is about capitalizing Opening Day. The Wiki article has it capitalized, most papers don't. Do whatever you see fit
It's like spring training; I see it both ways. I think either is correct, as long as it's consistent. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 15:51, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
San Francisco Giants
The caption reads "August 10", specify the year (I assume 2010, but not immediately obvious)
"In 4 games for Fresnol, he allowed no runs and recorded 2 saves." → "In four games for Fresno, he allowed no runs and recorded two saves." per [{MOS:NUMBERS]]
Sometimes I think about the 2010 MLB playoffs and cry. First the NLCS, then Cliff Lee blows it twice for the Rangers
I take it Juan Uribe isn't one of your favorite players. At least you all had won it in 2008! Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 15:55, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Link RBI
No comma needed after "He did not allow any runs"
"15-day DL" → "15-day disabled list" since it was spelled out everywhere else
First sentence of the 2014 section is a little convoluted. Thinking something like, Despite being told by Bochy not to swing during his at-bat, Casilla went on the disabled list on May 22, 2014 with a hamstring injury sustained as he attempted to run out a ground ball. (checked the source to make sure this all tracks)
Since the paternity list is limited to three days and his children are mentioned further below, I think that bit in 2016 can be taken out, especially since it makes the frustrations → booing much stronger
Oakland Athletics, second stint
Hyphen to en dash in the subhead
MLB.com should be linked, and should not be italicized
Although he technically hasn't officially retired, it's been three years since he played a game and he's 41 years old, so I think it's safe to mention his career statistics
"Casilla developed four which he can throw in a game as a result of his having been a starting pitcher originally in the minor leagues." → "Casilla's time as a starting pitcher in the minor leagues caused him to develop a four-pitch repertoire."
I didn't include "Christian" because A) the sources didn't actually say he was, and B) he's likely Catholic, coming from the Dominican Republic, which could make the term Christian cause people to mistakenly think he's evangelical. I know the wording's a little funny, but I think it best reflects what the sources said. Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 16:04, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
"Spanish is his native tongue" → "His native anguage is Spanish"
References
[53], "Giants place Casilla on Paternity List", should have the work set to NBC Sports Bay Area rather than just NBC Sports

Fausto Carmona or Eny Cabreja, if you want someone else who used an assumed name. (Oh, and Leo Nunez from the NL East!) Anyway, changes addressed; let me know if anything more is needed, and thanks for the review! Sanfranciscogiants17 (talk) 16:08, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply

Sanfranciscogiants17 You know, I might take you up on one of those, but I'm about to start preparing Bryce Harper for GA, and I've got a feeling that'll keep my hands full for a little while – finally getting to the stretch of active Phils with a lot of content to unpack. In the meantime, though, this one looks good to go! 14:43, 2 October 2021 (UTC)
