I have recently watched the animated version of the lord of the rings, credit to Saul Zaentz for a beautiful piece of work, but why is only half the book done? I have been told they ran out of money when they were doing it but surley after all these years there would be a few bob to finish it, and im sure fans worldwide would snap it up! Audrey Westman

Let’s keep the SZ page about SZ. The John Fogerty material is duplicated on Fogerty’s Wikipedia page, which is where it belongs. There’s also a Fantasy Records page, and the history of the company including artists and their various feuds with management could go there. Please delete the paragraph in question - such statements as "Fogerty almost immediately re-signed with the label..." are Fogerty-oriented and have nothing to do with SZ. 14:42, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Olompali

I think any historical coverage of either Zaentz or Fogerty should refer to the dispute between them. However, the celebrity-ness of the dispute has obscured many facts, and partisans seeking to benefit either side would do well to keep their emotions in check. For instance, it is widely assumed that Fogerty lost all his rights and royalties from CCR due to some chicanery by the label. Fogerty in fact never relinquished his writer royalties, and got rich as a result. Zaentz in turn obviously took a technical issue way too far, the "plagiarism" of The Old Man Down The Road/Run Through The Jungle. Blues and Jazz, the core of the Fantasy catalog, are overrun with unacknowledged rewrites and lifts from earlier material.

I have no disagreement with Seeker56's changes. I don't know who you are talking about when you say "gossipy celebrity warfare", because all I did [1] was remove the stuff about being an "old fashioned hands-on producer", which is opinion, not fact, and restored the Fogerty/Zaentz dispute, which you added some good edits to. I'm referring to Olompali's request to "keep the SZ page about SZ." As to gossipy celebrity warfare, I mean things like 'Yoko Ono broke up the Beatles' --these arguments take on a life of their own, and tend to crowd out the important facts in a life history. --Seeker56

I removed the line "...into an iron-clad long-term contract secretly guaranteeing the lion's share of earnings not to the band, but to Zaentz himself," which is not true. This is an opinion and not referenced. For an encyclopedic history of CCR and its relationship with Zaentz and Fantasy Records, see "San Francisco Rock" by Jack McDonough, Chronicle Books, 1985, which discusses these contractual issues. The book also mentions that the members of CCR other than John Fogerty, including his brother Tom Fogerty, remained friends with Zaentz long after working together at Fantasy, Tom until his death in 1990.Olompali 07:44, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed this:
