when I was a kid back around 62

Way back when in around 1962 (I was 6yo )my Uncle Chuck gave me a goofy looking set of drums..he just bought himself a new kit..slingerland of course ..I was so embarassed i couldnt be playing what all the cool kids were playing , this goofy looking set was by no other name a classic Slingerland cocktail kit..The seat also carried the hardware the kick pedal thumped up under what was also used as a tom on the top.. It had a radio king snare.. standard type hi hat with the clunky looking 13 inch zildgians and one 24 in ride..he was a jazz drummer..I learned on this kit and sadly to say I traded them for a brand spanking new set of KENTS omg what I think I did now yikes.. but in any event both sets are now collector sets..I played drums and still do nowdays who knows what is best.. I really wanted a new set of slingerlands when I came out of retirement 2 years ago but low and behold I couldnt find any ..so I bought a set of hand built PO BOYs from a nice guy in colorado Tony the owner is an honest guy so if ya got an itch for something that compares give him a call ..I will always have fond memories of Slingerland M.Maschino Palm Bay Florida —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.101.113.168 (talk) 22:20, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Did I imagine it?

Or did Motörhead's Phil Taylor play a Slingerland kit? Mr Larrington (talk) 22:45, 18 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
