Removed statement "The entire first installment of the series took place as a unitary flashback, with the main character pondering about the past right before he was to be assassinated by the triads." While this is true of the 1990s remake, the original series was not presented as a flashback.

Umm, I recently re-watched the original show, and it showed Hui Man Keung walking out of a hotel in the first moments of the show. We got into the storyline afterwards, and at the final minutes of the show, we return to that same shot, and Hui Man Keung was shot dead.

The original 1980s series starring Chow Yun Fat had no such sequence at the beginning. The 1990s remake starring Sunny Chan indeed had something to that effect.
