Copyvio

This bio was a copyvio lifted from [1], so I've reverted it to the last non-copyvio version. Sorry people.

So why where my edits reverted

Hooper's page is crap, I simply made it better and provided more information. Yet, its still returned to the way it was before. Jeesh!

because Jackp, you and all your socks have been banned from Wikipedia from consistent disruption to the wikipedia community. You know all this so don't pretend you don't. Merbabu 03:46, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This page is lacking

This is one of my few wikipedia pages i havn't found much info. Any more info about this guy? What i was trying to find is how can a guy direct a great movie like poltergeist and texas chainsaw 1 and then make the garbage that was texas chainsaw 2,3

This guy is a shit director. He should have stopped directing. My younger brother had an epileptic seizure because his shit episode in Masters of Horror looks like he simply dunked the camera lens inside a toilet full of shit while flushing. He's a piece of shit who nearly murdered my brother.

is that college professor part really true?

"Hooper spent the 1960s as a college professor"

He was only 17 year old during the year 1960 and just 26 during the year 1969 so it feels kinda funny that he was a college professor during the 1960s.

Needs major clean up

Needs referencing particularly in the controversy section. The language used is muddled and unclear, why someone keeps using the term "was offered" instead simpler language is beyond me. There are also typos and punctuation errors. Ridernyc (talk) 03:13, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This claim is a myth (re. chainsaw massacre)

The claim that there is a low level of violence is a myth. The film is violent. It is also extremely intense, and difficult to turn away from for some, generating intense even almost unbearable anxiety for some viewers.62.254.133.139 (talk) 03:33, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So what happened was that I was constantly calling the MPAA while I was shooting the film and in particular I was asking, "How do I get a PG rating and then hang a girl on a meat hook?" - Tobe Hooper

Now if someone comes on and says it's not violent cause you don't see any blood etc. I'd say they need to look up violence in a dictionary and also look up gore while they are at it. But I'll save them the trouble: here are the OED definitions:

Violence: behaviour involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill.
Gore: blood that has been shed, especially as a result of violence.

The question is not whether it's "violent" or not, but whether it's explicitly or implicitly violent. The irony is that the film has a reputation for overt violence when most of it is implied. Even in the meat hook scene, you don't actually SEE the girl get impaled (as with current torture porn horror, or even in something like Last House on the Left). You see the before, and you see the after, both of which imply the actual violence that occurs off-scene. Snarky Boy (talk) 04:48, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Syllables in name?

Does it rhyme with "robe" or is it an alternate spelling of "Toby"? - Richfife (talk) 20:12, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The latter – it's pronounced "TOE-bee". Source added to article. See also this YouTube interview. --Muzilon (talk) 12:46, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
