Tombak

The spelling with N is the less used one, specially in persian texts. I suggest to make "Tombak" the main articel and redirect from Tonbak to it. Mubed (talk) 13:27, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to Dehkhoda Dictionary, the main entry is tonbak (with an "N"), and other spellings like tombak, donbak and dombak are referred to this. It's obvious that tombak and dombak are derived from tonbak and donbak due to assimilation of 'n' to 'm' when it's before 'b'. donbak itself is also derived from tonbak. But I don't think "tompak" is the "official" spelling, as claimed in the lead paragraph, it's not even colloquial.

Etymologically, in Middle Persian or Pahlavi, it was tumbag, but the situation in New Persian and Classical Persian literature is as mentioned above. So I think we should consider tonbak as the official spelling, but mention tombak as more common spelling in Modern Persian.

The lead paragraph must be corrected to say: Tonbak (the official spelling) or tombak, also spelled as donbak and dombak, .... BrokenMirror2 (talk) 01:50, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Zarb

Is zarb spelled <span=2 style="font-size: 22pt">ضَرب? Or <span=2 style="font-size: 22pt">ضرب? Badagnani (talk) 09:19, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • both are correct. the one without that "accent" is the normal spelling. The other one is just used to clarify the pronounciation. i.e. it should be pronounced zArb and not zOrb or zErb. Mubed (talk) 13:21, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't Do this!!!!

Excuse me but I think It's more better to use PURE tombak Picture or the picture of famous people in this area like Hossein Tehrani Except the picture of yourself or your teacher (I don't know whose picture is this) Don't you think so?? I think It's more fare and you'll make all Tombak players happier. thanks.--Hamidthb1 (talk) 08:08, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
