    • That makes two new arguments, and either might be valid (unlike the nomination). But no evidence has been provided as to what the common name really is. Both names have been used right from the start of the project, depending on the context which has generally been political. And the other argument appears to make the common name completely irrelevant anyway.
    • Which leads us to the Naming Convention, yes, that does indeed say Roadways are named by their current public official name as listed in the appropriate government gazette [preferred], or as otherwise used for general administrative purposes, and not their common name, or their internal name according to the relevant government department. And this appears to be official, although in view of the departure from the general policy I would have preferred to see that RfC at WT:AT rather than Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (Australian roads) where it had little participation and only rough consensus even then. It is stated there that the RfC was widely publicised, but links to these heads-ups were not provided at the time, which is also unfortunate. Andrewa (talk) 17:22, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
• Support It is common for construction projects to have a project name (eg "second range crossing") but that completed roads acquire a different name or acquire the name of the highway that was replaced or extended by the project. https://qldglobe.information.qld.gov.au/ shows the Toowoomba Bypass. Google Streetview shows that the northern part of the road is signposted as Warrego Highway[1] but merging part of this article to Warrego Highway would require splitting the north and west parts into different highways, and make a disproportionate focus on small parts of a long highway.
