I think this part is contested at this point, some citations (ie. NYT) say that he died on Saturday (Aug 7th) and some (ie. Rolling stone) say he died on Friday. Both should be quite reputable news agencies, I think it's best to leave it as is, or if you want to change it I think changing the infobox, the citation, and the death date in the lead would be best.
