DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND THE AREA OF THE OBLAST If the population of 3.7 million refers just to the oblast of Tyumen, then why the area includes also Yamalo-Nenets? It is not clear. If it is 3.7 million then it should exclude Yamalo Nenets and Kanty-Mansy. If it is 5 million people, it should include it.--213.60.237.52 (talk) 17:58, 31 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Income

Article states that the per capita income is several times higher than the rest of Russia's - but then does not include a section on the oblast's economics. Its high per capita income is what brought me to this page, so now I'll just continue elsewhere...Westcider (talk) 03:07, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Area

Infobox has the area as "1,435,200 km2". That area would about 80% of the Ural Federal District, in which it belongs. However, it can clearly be seen in Ural Federal District#Sub-divisions, that the 1.4 million figure can't be right. Sverdlovsk Oblast, which is roughly same size on the map, is just under 200,000 square km. Something is not right. 82.141.126.42 (talk) 07:12, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's complicated :) Khanty-Mansi and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs are administratively a part of Tyumen Oblast and are included into the 1,435,200 km2 area total. Note the shade of red on this article's map.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); June 17, 2014; 12:06 (UTC)
But those are still considered separate regions in almost all articles. Maybe it should be somehow noted that it is the combined area of those. And, what would be more important, the area of the actual Oblast. Russian wiki has the same as here is, but German has "160.122 km²". 82.141.126.42 (talk) 16:05, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
They are considered to be separate federal subjects but still administratively a part of Tyumen Oblast. Like I said, it's complicated. There is no wrong way to treat these nested regions for the infobox purposes, although it's important that their treatment is consistent. It does not have to be consistent between different language editions of Wikipedia, though. And of course, both areas should be described in the article's text.
