The article is incomplete

Though I don't understand Russian at all, it seems that the Russian edition is more complete than the English one. I originally had wanted to add {{

Incomplete}} instead because the Russian edition contains the Russian edition of {{Recent death}}, meaning the article may contain some misinformation since the initial news reports may be unreliable. Hope that other Wikipedians interested in the Russian military who have sufficient time can use reliable Russian, English and Arabic sources (e.g. Zvezda channel and al-Masdar News) to expand the article, adding his birthplace, the schools he attended, his pre-2013 and post-Ukrainian military career.--RekishiEJ (talk) 10:29, 25 September 2017 (UTC) removed one redundant "military career" 10:33, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply

Reuters′ claims

I removed the link to Reuters′ report, as it contains very bold claims (about Asapov having been the commander of the ″Syrian Fifth Attack Troop Corps of volunteers″) that are attributed to Chief of Staff Gerasimov speaking publicly at Asapov′s funeral. If such claims were true, they would without fail be found in relevant Russian sources, which does not appear to be the case. My suspicion is that it is an outright bum-steer, most likely unintentional, and stems from a misunderstanding as Asapov was actually Commander of the

5th Army of the Russian Armed Forces.Axxxion (talk) 17:09, 28 September 2017 (UTC)[reply

It may be true to a degree, as there are Russian unofficial sources linking him to the Syrian 5th corps; but Reuters′ sweeping claim, which is not warranted by any Russian report of Gerasimov′s alleged public statements, looks a bit odd, at least.Axxxion (talk) 17:08, 28 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
