The current revision of this article ends with "In addition, the pronunciation of words with 'ch' is extremely rough and sounds as though the throat is constantly being cleared." Humorous as this description may be, I do not think it is at all appropriate. Unfortunately, I lack the knowledge of linguistics to be able to add a more academic description. Can anyone help? My best guess is that it means that words pronounced with a palatal fricative in standard German (like "ich") are pronounced with a velar or uvular fricative in Walliserdeutsch. It's an uvular fricative alright, but I wouldn't say it's much rougher than the normal Swiss German version... Trigaranus (talk) 17:26, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
