Airdate Mix-up with Volcano

I need to set the record straight here. Many websites list the airdate for this episode as August 20th, 1997. The TRUE AIRDATE is actually August 27th, 1997. The South Park DVD set initially printed erroneous airdate information in the packaging and this incorrect airdate was used when the show was made available for streaming, causing many episode guide websites to "correct" their listings to the incorrect date. This is because a long time ago somebody working on the DVD set got confused by the production codes of the episodes and swapped the airdates. Weight Gain 4000 absolutely aired on August 27th, 1997. I've written a thread about this on twitter: https://twitter.com/jixbyphillips/status/1423524075889065989

So, to the person asking "Third episode?" yes, this actually IS the third episode.

Third episode?

What does the intro mean that this is the third episode of the series? Even the episode list on the right side of the article lists it as the second. —The preceding

Mr. Garrison

In this episode, Mr. Garrison appears without Mr. Hat. It's revealed that Mr. Garrison keeps Mr. Hat in a drawer next to his bed.

When he directs the play, Mr. Garrison don't wear Mr. Hat. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.167.101.135 (talk) 18:16, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Uncited material

Cite please;

  • Mr. Garrison's scene where he ascends the tower and the entire following scene is very similar to the shootings committed by Charles Whitman in 1966. Mr. Garrison's use of a book repository is a spoof on Oswald's use of a book depository when he assassinated John Kennedy.

Thanks for digging these up, but would it be possible to discuss them on the list of episodes page?

Wikiproject A-Class article review

I want to propose to promote this article to A-class status. I have scanned through the article and I believe it approaches to meeting the A-class "criteria". The article was also recently promoted as a good article. Because the South Park wikiproject doesn't have a formal method of reviewing A-class articles yet, I believe the discussion/review should be kept here. Cheers, —

I agree, but it would maybe be better to create an A-class review for the WikiProject, so this problem won't occur in the future.--Music26/11 20:44, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fireside Chat

Just adding a bit of information here, it may or may not be useful for the actual article. Not mentioned in the article is that (on the season DVD?) a 'Fireside Chat' preceded the episode. It's available on YouTube here. Also, the voice that says "And now, a fireside chat with the creators of Comedy Central's South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker." is that of Penn Jillette, who used to be the primary voice announcer for Comedy Central.[5] --82.171.70.54 (talk) 01:13, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Taxi driver reference

shouldn't there be mentioned in the article about Mr. Garrison saying "

You talkin' to me?" while holding a gun and looking at the mirror, in the cultural references section, as he is referencing Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver SCB '92 (talk) 13:02, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply

New Theme? Parenting

in the 3rd & 4th paragraphs of the Themes section, it refers to Cartman buying the supplement. But in fact, his mother is making these purchases. Is it not a commentary on bad (lazy) parenting: 1) how easily he gets what he wants (mother drops everything to run to the store); 2) how little judgement the mother exercises regarding his request (considering the major health warning this product bears); 3) how she allows the situation to continue despite the obvious negative impacts on her son (so long as he's happy).

The current form is a slight simplification of this complex topic.

Since I'm new to the series (I've only seen this and the previous episode), I'm posting these thoughts here for discussion, instead of trying to update the article myself.

I definitely concur with one conclusion stated in this article: this episode is a major improvement over the 1st one.

Construction paper

Can this be linked in the article please? I had no idea what it was, but thought it might be sugar paper (as it is called in this neck of the woods) so searched and found they are the same. As construction paper is not a universally understood term, it needs linking for non-US audiences. Thanks. 62.7.177.190 (talk) 08:00, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree about construction paper being uncommon in some places, having grown up knowing it solely as sugar paper myself! The page is unprotected currently, so I made the edit for you. :) 109.154.252.187 (talk) 13:07, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
