Beryl Platt, Baroness Platt of Writtle

  • ... that Beryl Platt designed fighter planes as an engineer during World War One before entering politics as a Conservative MP?
  • Comment: Changed to designed rather than built - she didn't actually build the planes - and added context with Conservative MP. Thanks for nominating this for DYK E bruton (talk) 14:31, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

5x expanded by E bruton (talk). Nominated by Johnbod (talk) at 01:02, 8 March 2014 (UTC).

  • The article is a fivefold expansion and is long enough and new enough. The hook is unsatisfactory, however, as it was World War Two rather than One in which she worked. Also, "entering politics as a Conservative MP" is inaccurate as she does not appear to have been an MP at all, instead becoming a life peer in 1981 which put her in the House of Lords. • ALT1: ... that Beryl Platt helped design and test three WWII fighter planes: the Hurricane, the Typhoon, and the Tempest V?

This alt would appeal to the airplane fans and allow linking to multiple articles. I've also fixed the link to the ref'd hook article. Mary Mark Ockerbloom (talk) 01:14, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

  • Yes, better, thanks. Johnbod (talk) 01:31, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
  • This article is new enough and long enough and the ALT1 hook is satisfactorily referenced. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:22, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
