USS Counsel (AM-165) was an
U.S. Navy during World War II. She was built to clear minefields in offshore waters, and served the Navy in the Pacific Ocean
.
She was launched 17 February 1943 by Willamette Iron and Steel Works, Portland, Oregon; and commissioned 27 May 1944. She was reclassified MSF-165, 7 February 1955.

On 20 November Counsel sailed for home, arriving at San Francisco 19 December. Counsel was placed out of commission in reserve 15 January 1947 at
San Diego, California. She was struck from the Navy List
on 1 July 1972 and sold for scrap, 1 September 1973.
