Prof. Jagjit Singh Ghuman was born on 20th May, 2014 in Kuala Lumpur-Malaysia. He had early study in Kuala Lumpur-Malaysia. He did his matriculation from Punjab University Hoshiarpur-Punjab in 1953. He graduated in Civil Engineering from Gujarat University, Ahmadabad in 1960 with post-graduation M.Tech, (URP) from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (WB) in 1962. He was President of the Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI) in 1990-1991.[1] He was Chief Town Planner and Head of the Town & Country Planning Department, Govt. of Punjab (1979-1992), Housing Commissioner PHDB in 1987.

He was appointed Professor of Physical Planning and a Member of the Faculty of Physical Planning & Architecture, GNDU Amritsar in 1992. He was later inducted as a Member of the Chandigarh (UT) Administration, City Advisory Council in 1995-1997.

He was Member of the International Society of City & Regional Planners (ISoCaRP), Netherlands and is Life Member of Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage (INTACH) India. He has widely travelled in India & Abroad, has a vast and varied experience in Civil Engineering, Physical Planning, Conservation of Heritage Sites and Buildings, Housing, Environment, Re-construction and Re-Development of Critical Areas in Human Settlements, namely;[2]

i) Conservation & Restoration of

(1980-81)

ii) Conservation, Protection of the Golden Temple Complex and Re-construction of its Periphery in the Walled City Amritsar-Punjab

iii) Restoration of Exposed Cement Concrete surface texture in Part of GNDU Library Building at Amritsar, Punjab

Presently engaged in a Research Project, comprehensive study-demonstration exercises in conservation and restoration of concrete structures in the Chandigarh College of Architecture etc. to effectively sustain the quality of life, of Heritage Buildings in the Chandigarh City Landscape.

Prof. Jagjit Singh Ghuman was born on 20th May, 2014 in Kuala Lumpur-Malaysia. His father Sr. Daswandha Singh was Civil Engineer in Govt. of Malaysia and Mother Sdni. Amar Kaur was a House Wife. He had early study in Kuala Lumpur-Malaysia.
