Leszek Antos (10 April 1935 – 8 January 2000) was a Polish footballer who played as a forward. Despite making 18 appearances in the I liga (Poland's top division at the time), his career was mostly spent playing with Broń Radom.

Career

Born in Radom, Antos started his career with his local side Broń Radom in 1952. He would continue to play with Broń until he joined Flota Gdynia as part of his two-year mandatory military service. After these two years, Antos returned to Broń, playing the next two seasons with the club. In 1960 he joined Lechia Gdańsk who were playing in the I liga, Poland's highest division. He made his Lechia and I liga debut on 20 March 1960 against ŁKS Łódź.[4] In his first season with Lechia he played in 11 games, however he struggled to fully break into the first team playing in only half of the league games that season. The following season saw Antos struggle more within the team, playing in only 7 of the teams 26 league games that season, starting only three of the games. In total Antos made 18 appearances for Lechia in I liga.[5] After the conclusion of the 1961 season Antos returned to Broń for his third spell. He spent a further 9 seasons with Broń before retiring in 1971. After his playing career ended Antos went into coaching, managing youth squads at Broń Radom, as well as the first team with Czarni Radom.

While Broń Radom never hit the hights of the I liga, Antos is most well known for his three spells and 15 years playing career with his boyhood club. While often playing within the lower leagues Antos still made an impact with his footballing ability, and is regarded by Broń Radom as still being one of their most famous players.[6][7] During his time with Broń, he represented the city of Radom twice in games against the Poland national football team. Antos scored Broń's first goal in a 3–3 draw with the national team in 1958,[8] and played again in the 7–0 defeat in 1962.[9] He also represented Radom against the Poland B team in 1959, scoring Radom's goal in their 2–1 defeat.[10]

After his retirement, Antos was recognised as being one of the greatest players to ever represent Bron Radom. On Bron's 70th anniversary the club released an all time XI, with Antos ranking as the second greatest player to have played for the club.[11]
