Arjan Dhillon is an Indian singer, and songwriter known for his work in Punjabi music. He started his career as a songwriter, and has written songs for various artists including Nimrat Khaira, Diljit Dosanjh, Ranjit Bawa, Nishawn Bhullar, and Gurnam Bhullar. Dhillon started his singing career with the track "Ishq Jeha Ho Gya" from Afsar (2018). In 2020, Dhillon released his debut EP The Future.

Early life

Born and raised in Bhadaur, India, Dhillon started writing songs when he was studying in grade 12 in a boarding school.[1]

Career

Dhillon started his career as a lyricist, initially collaborated with Nimrat Khaira for various songs including "Suit" and "Ranihaar".[2] In 2018, he started his singing career with song "Ishq Jeha Ho Gaya" from Afsar's soundtrack, he also penned four other tracks of the soundtrack. He finally came in limelight in 2020 with tracks "Bai Bai" and "My Fellas", and also released various other successful tracks like "Jatt Di Janeman" and "Mull Pyar Da" in the same year. In fall 2020, he released his debut EP The Future, consisting of six tracks.[3] In 2021, Dhillon penned lyrics for Diljit Dosanjh's "Luna" from MoonChild Era album.[4] The album peaked at no. 32 on Canadian Albums Chart by Billboard.[5] In fall 2021, he announced his debut studio album AWARA.[6]

Artistry

In an interview with The Times of India, when asked about his specific style Dhillon said, " I think I am yet to explore or define my style. So far I believe there’s no particular style of mine. I write things as I see them. If I feel something, if there’s news that touched me, if there’s an encounter that changed things, I pen it."[7]

Career

Gill started his career in 2019 with singles "Faraar" and "Feels". His single "Droptop", with AP Dhillon entered UK Asian chart by Official Charts Company, and peaked at number 28.[2] Also, the song entered top 10 on UK Punjabi chart.[3] In June 2020, he collaborated with Dhillon and Manni Sandhu for single "Majhail", which topped the both UK Asian and Punjabi chart, and became their best performance till date.[4] In July 2020, he appeared in "Excuses" by Intense, which peaked at number 3 on UK Asian and topped the UK Punjabi chart.[4] In September 2020, he released "Brown Munde" with Dhillon, Gminxr, and Shinda Kahlon. Nav, Sidhu Moose Wala, Money Musik, and Steel Banglez appeared in its music video.[5] The song entered Apple Music chart in Canada.[6] The song debuted at number one on UK Asian chart, became his second number one on the chart.[7]

Also, he founded a record label Royal Music Gang, with manager Parma.[11] Jandu released his debut album Nach in 2011. His song "Daru Daru" was well received by the audience.[12] He was also nominated for Filmfare Awards Punjabi Best Music Album category for Channa Mereya (2017), along Gold Boy, Jaidev Kumar, and Sonu Ramgarhia.[13]

Aujla himself starred in it, and a 18K hand crafted GTR and a Bugatti were used in the music video.[3][4] The song's audio and video were leaked before its original release.[5] One of the leaked version audios on YouTube was viewed over eight million times.[6] Its official music video was released on 19 April 2020 on YouTube, by Rehaan Records. It topped the trending list in India;[4][7] and was viewed over three million times within twenty-four hours of its release.[8][7]

He released the song's cover on 20 March 2020 on his Instagram handle.[2] On 17 March 2020, the song's music video was leaked on YouTube.[5] Some of the regional Punjabi channels accused Karan Aujla's co-artist Deep Jandu of leaking the song. However, Aujla and Jandu both rubbished the news, and stated it was false.[9] Jandu is also credited as a co-composer on Gaana.[10]

Rulda Singh Kharoud (born 9 April 1952 - 14 August 2009)[1] was an Indian politician. He joinder RSS in 1976 and became president of Rashtriya Sikh Sangat. He was also general secretary of NRI wing of Bhartiya Janta Party.[2] In July, Singh was shot by two or three armed assailants outside his residence, and died weeks later to his wounds.[3]

Death

On 29 July 2009, Rulda Singh was shot several times in face and abdomen by two three armed assailants.[3] Weeks later he died at PGIMER, Chandigarh.[5] In July 2010, four UK Sikhs were arrested following 11-months investigation.[6][7]

Bir Singh

Bir Singh is an Indian songwriter and playback singer known for his work in Punjabi music.[1] He is signed to Rhythm Boyz Entertainment as of 2019. He was nominated for Best Playback Singer - Male category at Filmfare Punjabi Awards for his song "Dishaheen" from Sarvann.[2] At 2018 PTC Punjabi Film Awards, he won Best Lyricist award.[3] He performed at 2019 Rajasthan International Folk Festival.[4]
