The Arab-Ata (lit.'Shrine of the Arab Father') is a cubical, domed brick mausoleum built in 977-78 in the village of Tim, Samarqand Region, Uzbekistan.[1] Built during the Samanid Empire, Arab-Ata holds similar features to other Samanid mausoleums constructed in the 10–12th centuries, like Babaji-Khatun, Karakhan, and Aisha Bibi mausoleums; focused on the set compositions of central, portal-domed, and frontal, and having room for smaller expressions within those molds.[2]

Site Description

Built on top of a tepa, or triangular-shaped hill, in the 10th Century, the mausoleum fills an important gap in understanding the evolution of mausoleum architecture in Central Asia. [3]
