Hi Ackatsis, I saw you hadn't been properly welcomed yet. Welcome! I hope you enjoy being a Wikipedian and all that. There's a

watchlist for a while to see how it progresses. See you around! --Grace 09:07, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply

The Loaded Dog

Your article The Loaded Dog has been speedy deleted, because Wikipedia is not the place to copy entire sections from story books. Please see What Wikipedia is not for more information. If you wish to make the text available online, consider contributing it to Wikisource instead. Thanks! Kimchi.sg 13:05, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We can write articles about literary works, but the contents of the works themselves should not be inside the articles, except for quotation purposes. For example, we have an article about

primary sources. Kimchi.sg 13:29, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply

If the book was published in 1901, it should be public domain worldwide (the 1911 Encyclopaedia Brittanica, which was published even later, is already public domain). Hence you should seriously consider submitting the text of it to Wikisource. It will be made always available and freely sharable, and easier to link to from Wikipedia. Saint Peter (poem) & A Child in the Dark, and a Foreign Father

You don't have to log off to remove the prod notices, be open about it. In general, long sections of source text belong in Wikisource, see

Literature edits Hi - the tags for wikisource links are Template:Wikisource, for example, {{wikisource|Scots of the Riverina (poem)}} gives

Articles should be categorised, for example, use Category:Australian poems or Category:Australian novels which are subcategories of Category:Australian literature Regards--A Y Arktos\talk 00:20, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ackatsis!
I was wondering if you could specify your prefence (b/w the two versions) on the dragonfly compound eye FPC nom? Thanks, --Fir0002 08:05, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Internet Movie Database

I have no issue with depending on IMDb for films that have been released. However, IMDb, in my experience, does not qualify as accurate when it comes to upcoming films. IMDb is similar to Wikipedia in how users contribute information, though there are "qualified" individuals that permit information. Two notorious examples I can recall are Ed Norton listed to be John Bauer for a later episode of 24 Season 5, and another one is Aunt May listed as Carnage for Spider-Man 3. Also, IMDb has posted release years for films that are still in development — have you ever seen a TBA? No, the site, for some reason, picks and chooses release years. In addition, there has been no actual news headline that announced that Ron Howard will be the director (I just re-checked Google News to see if there have been any). IMDb is a follow-up source like Wikipedia; it does not "break" the news. Hope you understand. IMDb's great for cast & crew info post-release since that information is verifiable by all, but before then... it's not guaranteed. —

Gorton

I can't seem to view the link. But if it came out in 1954, then yes it is public domain and the default copyright provisions cannot apply. Timeshift (talk) 09:21, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
