Please help me with... Hello: Can someone respond to my new entry entitle 1918 Camp Perry (WA) football team? I think that it meets all of your criteria and I have three more games and a few other factoids to add once I know the page is OK. Thank you. Other work
I don't mean to be harsh in that treatment above, so let me appeal to you on a different issue. I looked at what you did for Los Angeles Wildcats (AFL) and think your addition is just fine, but it now makes the source for the rest of the paragraph look terrible! Do you think you can use your newpapers.com subscription to do similar sourcing for the other games that are mentioned? I'm not a subscriber, but I'm guessing you are and taking you at your word that the articles you cite are about the right team, location, date, etc. Thanks. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 03:50, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
Hello: I have added in the references for the other LA Wildcats games as you asked, so I think that page looks much better now. I have also completed and published the page called "1918 Camp Perry (WA) football team." I think it looks just right, and is similar to other pages for similar kinds of teams in the formatting. Are you OK with it? When will you officially publish it? Three of the references are from the Seattle Times and it required me to pay for a brief archives subscription, but there is no way to "clip" the article as can be done with the Newspapers.com account. Thank you.

College football articles
BBrooksDallas, nice work on those college football articles. Take a look at me edits to
- BBrooksDallas, I move the 1918 Camp Perry football team from draft to mainspace. I was just looking at the 1933 Simmons Cowboys football team, which I created last year. Their first game was against the "Dixie Rebels". One the sources I pulled indicated that they competed as the Jefferson University Rangers in 1932. I think it would he helpful to create articles for Jefferson University and Dixie University. Jweiss11 (talk) 03:33, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
Fantastic -- thank you, thank you! My grandfather served in the Navy at Bremerton in 1918 during WWI, so Camp Perry would have been the team he rooted for. As for the Jefferson/Dixie story -- it really is a fascinating story. I have written published Wiki pages for the 1930 and 1931 Jefferson teams, and I've submitted the 1932 Jefferson Rangers team for review, so if you can find it, it's ready to be published. I've already drafted the next two years when the Jefferson team switched to Dixie University Rebels (they were basically a free agent football team looking for a college to play for, strange as that may seem). As soon as the '32 Jefferson story is published, I'll submit the '33 Dixie football season and then the final one, the '34 Dixie football season. I am also drafting articles on Dixie U., Jefferson U., and three or four other topics that are all referred to in these five seasons. Then, once these are all published, they can be linked to pages like Simmons, Texas Tech, and others just like you described. Yes, Jefferson and Simmons played in 1932, a 20-0 Rangers win, and then the next season, now as Dixie, the Rebels lost to Simmons 17-6. From the 1931 Jefferson page, you'll see that Jefferson (playing as the Bobcats) beat the Simmons freshmen team, 7-6, for their only win that season. Once you see all of these pages flowing from one to the next, you'll see how crazy of a story this was. Thank you again!! BBrooksDallas (talk) 04:01, 8 October 2020 (UTC)

- I've pushed this to the main space at 1933 Dixie Rebels football team. If and when you start work on the 1932 and 1934 articles, please make note of the formatting changes I made to the 1933 article and reflect them in the new article. Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 01:44, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
Yes, I've already submitted 1932 Jefferson University Rangers football team in the Draft/Review Space. It should be there -- can you not find it? "Draft:1932 Jefferson University Rangers football team." I'm wrapping up 1934 Dixie tonight, tomorrow. Thank you. BBrooksDallas (talk) 02:06, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
- Found it and moved it to the main space at Dixie State Trailblazers. That should just be overwritten. Jweiss11 (talk) 02:40, 19 October 2020 (UTC)]
Yes, agreed. Let me finish the 1934 season, and then I'll get to pages for Dixie and a few other of the key subjects in these five football team pages. Thank you very much! BBrooksDallas (talk) 02:43, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
- Sounds good. One small item: you have the attendance for the 1932 Simmons game at 3,000. The source I cited at 1932 Simmons Cowboys football team reports the attendance for that game as 5,000; see https://www.newspapers.com/clip/31160149/abilene-reporter-news/. Can you doublecheck your source? Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 03:04, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
- Also, did the 1932 Jefferson team run the Notre Dame Box on offense? Jweiss11 (talk) 03:06, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
As for the Jefferson-Simmons game, the "Dallas Morning News" article sub-headings say: "Long Gallops Bring Tallies. Whire and Bird Thrill 3,000 Fans With Fine Touchdown Sprints." As for the Notre Dame offense, I have no idea what specific style, but the Morning News commonly referred to the "Notre Dame" offense that Dobbs ran. You can edit or delete it as you see best. I completed the 1934 Dixie Rebels season, but it's not in the Draft folder and I'm not sure why and I don't know how to move it to the Draft: Help....Can you find it? Thank you. BBrooksDallas (talk) 03:52, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
Hello: I have completed the Wiki page for the Dallas Rangers football team, the transition period between the 1932 Jefferson Rangers and the 1933 Dixie Rebels. It's in my Sandbox, but I don't know how to move it to the "Draft" folder. Sometimes the Draft folder appears when I create a new page and sometimes it doesn't -- I don't know why. Can you please review and publish? Thank you. BBrooksDallas (talk) 04:17, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
Hello: I have not heard from anyone for a while: I've created a few new pages that need to get reviewed and published; Dixie University, 1934 Dixie Rebels football team, Dallas Rangers football team. Thank you. BBrooksDallas (talk) 17:47, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
Hello, again: can someone please respond to my most recent new pages for confirmation and publishing? Thank you. BBrooksDallas (talk) 22:17, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
Hello: I would really like to get these pages completed, as I have a few more to do in order to complete the overall story. Please respond to these Draft pages. Thank you. BBrooksDallas (talk) 21:02, 11 November 2020 (UTC)
Hello, Jweiss11 -- have you been able to complete these other pages? I am waiting to do some additional stories about the Jefferson/Dixie events but I need these Wikipedia draft pages completed and posted -- I'd appreciate some kind of update on them. Thank you. Hello: I've left a number of messages directly above to get some review on my draft submissions and after getting many responses for a few weeks on other submissions, I've received no responses for quite a while. I am trying to publish some stories on these topics on other web sites, and I want to cite the Wikipedia entries within that, but I can't until they are published on Wiki. Thank you. There are 3,710 pending submissions waiting for review." Reviews are done by a limited number of volunteers in no particular order. You will need to continue to be patient. I am watching this page should you have additional questions. 331dot (talk) 20:38, 27 November 2020 (UTC)
- I would note that Wikipedia is not a reliable source and shouldn't be used as a citation for scholarly works, the sources in articles should be used. 331dot (talk) 20:41, 27 November 2020 (UTC)]
Thank you -- yes, I am aware of the possible delays, nonetheless two reviewers were approving my drafts in fairly rapid succession because all of the pages were related to each other. We (the reviewers and myself) wanted the entire group of new pages to be all active successively in order for the stories to all align, so I was whipping them out as quickly as I could -- then everything stopped on Wiki's side. As for the use of these pages in other works, these are merely for informational purposes only and are not part of "scholarly" works -- rather they're just fun Facebook blogs that chronicle interesting historical stories, anecdotes, and so on. The Wiki page links will be included as "for additional information...." pages. Thank you. BBrooksDallas (talk) 15:45, 28 November 2020 (UTC)

Thank you very much!! I greatly appreciate it. I am still learning a lot about Wikipedia so I am sorry for mistakes regarding the "process." I will get back to this later today and make any corrections that I need to and follow the templates you've described from here on out. I really love bringing these stories and events to life as it creates endlessly fascinating nuggets of history that all can enjoy. Again, thank you for all of your help! Courtesy tag to JWeiss11. - Davidwr thanks for jumping in and addressing this. BBrooksDallas, I've been on the go the last few hours and just getting a chance to respond. I think this was all much ado about not much. Rather that proposing to delete you user page (which you should note is not the same thing at deleting your user account!) it would probably have been more effective for Amkgp to drop in and leave a friendly note about how to properly use user pages and sandboxes, etc rather than take the formulaic and potentially misleading approach of proposing to delete your user page. At any rate, BBrooksDallas, your user page (User:BBrooksDallas) is a place where you can, if you so choose, tell the Wikipedia community about yourself, your contributions to the encyclopedia, and goals for future editing. Or you can use as a sort of notebook for collecting useful resources or basically whatever you want within the broad bounds of relevance to Wikipedia. If you are going to develop more content for new or existing article, a user sandbox or draft space is more appropriate location. Sorry for the confusion and drama here. I look forward to more of your contributions! Jweiss11 (talk) 23:31, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
Great, thank you all very much. It was a bit of a fright, but this has helped me to better understand how to use Wikipedia as I am still a bit of a novice at it, but want to post interesting and accurate articles as much as I can. I'll get organized on all of this the next few days and press on with my next articles. Thank you all, again. BBrooksDallas (talk) 23:50, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Contested deletion
This page should not be speedily deleted because... Adding to my earlier post, I am very upset about this, almost sick to my stomach. I've added a series of pages about the Jefferson and Dixie universities' football teams of the 1930s in Dallas -- JWeiss11 was a big help to me regarding this incredibly bizarre story that had a big impact on the college football world then. I added a page on the 1918 Camp Perry football team (Bremerton, WA) to help round out that aspect of football history during World War I. I've spent a ton of time researching and writing these pages so that they were as accurate as they could possibly be. I helped JWeiss11 with adding in sources for the Los Angeles Wildcats of the 1926 AFL when whoever wrote the original article had not offered many citations -- JWeiss11 asked me to fill in all the references, which I did. I even was able to add in some missing games that the team played on a barnstorming tour that year. The other reviewers have praised me for my work. As it relates to the Jefferson and Dixie stories, my research has also allowed me to correct the historic records with the colleges that Jefferson and Dixie played, because no one today at those colleges knows who those teams were back then. Dixie was confused for Dixie State College, which is a college in Utah today. Other schools had bad information on who Jefferson and Dixie were which I helped them correct because it was such a strange story of the two colleges. Again, I can assure you I have NO commercial or financial interest in any of these articles or stories, and am doing it purely for the satisfaction of learning history and bringing these stories to life. Thank you. --BBrooksDallas (talk) 07:16, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
Your "main" user page is special, WikiProject College Football
Thank you for your efforts in improving Wikipedia's coverage of notable seasons of college football teams. If you are not already involved with
Your "main" user page, User:BBrooksDallas, is special. Typically, editors either don't create it at all (it is a "red link"), they create it but leave it blank, or they use it to tell a bit about what they have done or plan to do on Wikipedia and related projects. It is NOT the place to put a draft article. Draft articles should have names that start with either Draft: or User:username/ which in your case is User:BBrooksDallas/. Many editors do what you did with two of your drafts, and start the draft's name with User:username/sandbox/.
For more information on what is and what is not appropriate for your main user page and for other pages in "your user space" (that is, pages whose names start with User:BBrooksDallas/) see Wikipedia:User pages. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 18:33, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
Formatting citations
BBrooksDallas, heads up that I moved your draft of
OK, thank you. I will work on fixing those citations in as many places as I can over the next week or two. As for the clippings, yes, I can do that too. Thank you for the additional information. I will join the College Football Group as I was invited to do, too. Have a good evening. BBrooksDallas (talk) 23:55, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
The citation formatting/corrections went much faster than I thought. I think I am finished with all the ones I can recall, and it looks like you or someone else added the clippings in for the LA Wildcats of the 1926 AFL. I have two draft pages in my Sandbox, but I am unsure how to move them to Draft status so that you can review them. The two are the "Dixie University" page and the "Dallas Rangers football team" page, the bridge team between 1932 Jefferson and 1933 Dixie -- although brief, it connects the dots between the two colleges and also brings out the story of the challenge game against the NFL's Portsmouth Spartans on New Year's Day, 1933. How do I move them to Draft for review? Thank you. BBrooksDallas (talk) 04:25, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- (WP:MOVEfor instructions. Be very careful when moving a page, make sure the "destination" name-space is correct (e.g. "Draft:"), make sure the "page name" is correct (e.g. "2001 Acme Looniversity football team"), and make sure you make an intelligent, case-by-case decision on checking the "move talk page."
- Also, if the page was ever used for anything OTHER than the current, AND you are the only person who edited it while it was about the current topic, you might be better off just "copying and pasting" the contents to a new page called history split may be required. Hopefully you won't ever need to do that. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:04, 2 December 2020 (UTC)]
