I'd like to start something of a friendly discussion with you.
Could you please let me know what the problem is with worldtimeengine.com and if there is a problem, let me know how I can fix it?
I added the following focused links to 'Time In Australia' as well as many other pages but, alas, they are removed:
(if you can...or want to...please respond here or on my corresponding talk page. thank you)
Thank you for your reply. We will be working on getting the time resolutions to those places corrected. Then I will aim to contribute and discuss any additions on the talk page first.
Your feedback is very useful, so thanks (I'm not well versed in the ways of Wikipedia yet). As for the site, it's a big task (much like Wikipedia) but we're on it.
We've undergone a large amount of work to make sure that the places you reviewed on World Time Engine are now displaying the correct local time. In fact, we have a whole new 'engine' part of World Time Engine, now including all official land and sea boundaries defined in United_Nations_Convention_on_the_Law_of_the_Sea (Territorial_waters ). We also added Ulukhaktok, NT, Canada as you mentioned.
Just wanted to let you know that your feedback was useful and thank you for your help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Richtibb (talk • contribs ) 10:34, 19 February 2008 (UTC) [ reply ]

My Liberian people were hurt last week like thousands of Americans getting hurt in the 9/11 attacks last week. If it isn't a word to you, then it's just a slang, you have a thousand slangs located on Wikipedia, so why can't I post this one here. What? You don't think that the situation that happend in New Jersey and New York wasn't that serious?

section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see
Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on
notable subjects and should provide references to
reliable sources that
verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{ hangon }}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Michael Coren
Last night Michael Coren said "Outrageous lies have been told about me on wikipedia." He said he checks it regularly. I don't know what he's talking about. Everything is sourced and mostly from his own columns. Last time he also claimed that his family had been attacked on the wikipedia. That's absolute rubbish as far as I'm aware. By the way he lives in Oshawa so if he was writing the article himself it would make sense that it was from outside Toronto. Is it possible that wikipedia could sue him? He's damaged wikipedia's repuation making these comments on the air.LagunaBeachCA

Thanks. I would also be interested in knowing if he has a specific complaint. As of now I think I'm finished contributing to his wikipedia article, but I'd still like to know. As I said everything is sourced and mostly from his own columns. LagunaBeachCA (talk )LagunaBeachCALagunaBeachCA (talk )
Hi, I was frustrated, now that I know that the content can be restored I am happy. I changed a lot of the content to suite the requirements of the wikipedia so I don't have a back up saved. I do understand where you are coming from. I followed your instructions but have not had a reply yet. Do you know how long this typically takes?

It might be prudent to check pages after you've used AWB. I don't use it myself so I'm not sure what the problem was but after you recently edited Australia all of the references after the 32nd were screwed up because "<br /></ref>" was replaced with "<br /" />".diffs --AussieLegend (talk ) 23:08, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
Further to this, I don't think it's an issue with AWB per se. Last night Smackbot made exactly the same change.diffs This problem would seem to have been the unnecessary "<br />" before the "</ref>" --AussieLegend (talk ) 22:42, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
I noticed that you are moving the coordinates template from above the infobox to within the infobox on airport articles. Just an FYI, the coordinates are intentionally left above the infobox so that the airport articles will appear within Google Earth's Geographic Web Layer. See
Template:Infobox Airport for more info. Either way is fine, I suppose, but I wouldn't rush around changing them all. -

Greetings, I noticed that you added a Wikimapia link to the Arlington Municipal Airport (Oregon) article after you already removed it. When you removed it one of the reasons that you listed was "duplicated by coord template." For my own edification, what differences does the Wikimapia link provide that is greater then the link Coordinates in the info box for airports? At first glance they almost appear redundant. Thanks for the info, --Trashbag (talk ) 23:37, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
As far as I am concerned they are redundant. Yesterday when I was making an edit I noticed the template wasn't working so i looked at the template and saw this . I assumed that the edit was good and started to remove the template from articles. Today when I restarted I had done about 90 when I noticed the template was working again and saw this . After looking at User talk:BrownHairedGirl#Coordinates , Wikipedia talk:External links#Links to map services and Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#BrownHairedGirl involved in tendentious and disruptive editing and leaving her a message I decided that the issue was not as clear cut as I had first thought. So I am restoring the map links and then if later a consensus to remove them becomes clear a bot can do it. Unfortunately I can't just roll them all back because there were other valid edits made as well. But personally, I don't care if the links to WikiMapia are removed and will not restore them a second time should someone else remove them. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 23:49, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
Ok, gotcha. I've always wondered about the link as I've only seen them on a handful of airport articles. --Trashbag (talk ) 23:53, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
Since I probably added most of those links, here is my perspective:
Regarding the link being for WikiMapia instead of Google Maps or other sites that have aerial photos with overlaid maps (Yahoo, Live Maps, etc.): I find WikiMapia useful because it allows placing an outline around the airport and other items of interest (see O'Hare International Airport for an example). WikiMapia also allows adding a link to the airport's Wikipedia article.
Regarding the advantages of a direct link versus clicking on the coordinates to view the GeoHack page: it allows a one-click option for an aerial view of the airport and it allows a wider range of zoom levels so the initial view can be more accurately scaled to the size of the airport. GeoHack has less-precise zoom levels which use a "type" parameter (see Template:GeoTemplate/doc#Scaling ): "type:city" generates links for Google Maps and WikiMapia using the equivalent of zoom level 11, "type:airport" is zoom level 13, and "type:landmark" is zoom level 15. With the direct links I have used zoom levels from 12 through 16 depending on the size of the airport and the location (some areas only have satellite photography available at a zoom level of 13 or 14, while others have more detailed aerial photography allowing a zoom level of 15 or higher).
There is an ongoing debate regarding the removal of direct mapping links, see the threads that CBW mentioned, plus another on the talk page for ]
Sounds good, I'll have to look in it (WikiMapia) more. Thanks for your time, --Trashbag (talk ) 20:59, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]

hi im trying to add a biograph to the site for Simon Sevens but every time i have tried it has been deleted.
the message i get is that its not significant which i don't under stand.
can u give me a idea of what is wrong with the biograph please.
Hull born and bred Simon was born on the 9th March 1974.
He first dipped his toe into the music industry at the
grand old age of seven, when he started playing the guitar.
His love and passion for music quickly progressed and by
the age of ten he was in his first band, playing Status
Quo tracks with a friend from junior school.
Many school plays and appearances then followed
giving Simon an insatiable thirst for the "fame" that ensued.
The transition from junior school to senior school brought with
it Simon's interest in playing the drums (Although at this time
he still played the guitar on the side). In his second year of
senior school, Simon meet his future business partners, John
and Paul, two guitarists in the year below him. The unification
of these two young guitarists and the drummer, Simon, Provided
them with a steady influx of gigs for the rest of there school lives.
In their late teens, the boys were offered a deal with a
management company. They declined and as a result things
just seemed to dwindle away. Many years later, after
drumming his way through a number of bands, Simon
got himself a job at Repercussion Music on Beverley
Road, Hull and went on to become close friends with
his employers, Phil and Tracy.
So, as the years passed by, Simon went from part time to full
time to manager of Repercussion Music. During this time and under
the control of his thirst for performing, Simon managed to play his
way through an ever incresing number of bands.
However playing in bands meant that Simon was in need of somewhere
to practise, and as Hull, typically, had nothing to offer, he set
about fixing this problem.
Enter John Hemmingway of 'Simon's school band' fame. Simon approached
him and asked if he would be interested in making a room for the two
bands Simon was playing in at the time. Enter another of Simon's
dear friends, Frank Preston, who found himself in a similar situation
to Simon - in a band with absolutely nowhere to rehearse.
So John and Simon set about finding a suitable building. This was found
on Wincolmlee, a building with lots of potential and that is now home to
recording studios. The site is also used as a dance studio and there is
a whisper of a bistro making an appearence sometime soon!
During the development of studio one, Simon was introduced to someone
who was to be a HUGE influence on his life. Mike Simpson popped into
Repercussion after spending several years in London, and ended working
there teaching the drums.
Through Mike, Simon was introduced to his old friend and Simons
now business partner, Marino De Silva. This unification of Marino
and Simon means that the two are now riding the waves of music together,
making multi award winning albums aswell as raising money for a number of
charities worldwide. But despite this busy life Simon still manages to
play the drums in the band Rapture and he also works as Stage Manager
for Sean Finch and The Street Band.
Thank you
Matthew Porter

I can see some work was needed and bit of grammar work but why o why did you mess things with the Airports in Croatia or OTHER Airports in Croatia.
Not happy at all. I'm telling you stop messing Croatian threads. I do not care what your intentions were, if we need help we'll ask for it. There are plenty of us who can do that job, and I just started looking at each individual thread and updating and correcting grammar and spelling. But if you constantly come and mess things up, ppl will get mad and report you to Admins, and I am sure you do not want that.

What would Wikipedia do iif there was an ACTUAL death threat against another user? Not just a trolling edit, I mean. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fiery Mastadon (talk • contribs ) 08:04, 4 February 2008 (UTC) [ reply ]
There isn't an actual threat, I'm just curious as to what Wikipedia would do in such a case. Fiery Mastadon (talk ) 08:09, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]
For instance, some guy named Bob edits Wikipedia. He received an email from an editor with malicious intentions, though the email was in seemingly good intentions. In actuality it was so he could find a way to get Bob's personal information. He then tries to hack Bob's computer and dig up any private information (i.e. street address, work, phone number, etc.).
One day, as Bob was editing, he got a message. This message read as follows:
"If you don't leave Wikipedia, I'll see to it that you're days are numbered. I know your street address."
Bob just gets rid of it and assumes it's trolling. But then the harraser proves that he knows Bob's street address. Bob is so horrified he logs off of Wikipedia.
What would be done for Bob?
Thank you for that information. I now understand what Wikipedia would do in emmergency situations. Fiery Mastadon (talk ) 10:23, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see
our policy for non-free media ).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions " link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion . Thank you. BJBot (talk ) 00:54, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[ reply ]

I dont understand how there will be a second disambiguation page if toronto airport is redirected to Toronto Pearson Airport and that the list of airports page will be put beside the redirect.
like this: "Toronto Airport" redirects here. For other uses, see Toronto Airport (disambiguation) which redirects to List of toronto airports. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Messiisking (talk • contribs ) 22:14, 10 February 2008 (UTC) [ reply ]

Yes, he was in fact a one-time mayor of Yellowknife. Here is some information I have on him, if you want it:
Michael A. Ballantyne was born in Toronto in 1945 into a military family. Michael has been a resident of Yellowknife since 1969 when he came up here originally to visit family [his father was the first Director of the former Department of Resources, Wildlife and Economic Development (RWED)]. After he moved to Yellowknife, he worked at Giant Yellowknife Mines for four years. Michael was elected to City Council in 1978 and became Mayor from 1979-1983. He was elected as an MLA in 1983 and eventually became Speaker of the House. He oversaw the construction of the new Legislative Assembly Building. Michael remained undefeated during his political career. Michael is a founding Director of the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre (NACC) and worked closely from 1980 to 1983 with the community and the Globe and Mail newspaper to raise the funds to build that performing arts theatre.
