Station Wagon article

I have noticed that you have moved the Station wagon article to the "Wagon (automobile)" name. This type of change should be first proposed and discussed in the "talk" page. This article has been named "station wagon" since January 2003. The station wagon description of this body style has been in historic use since the beginning of its development for vehicles and has been used continuously by automakers and journalists to describe this body style. Although some contemporary marketing agencies desire to "upgrade" the traditional image of utilitarian and family-oriented station wagons with various boastful superlatives such as sport wagon, five-door sport-back, and other fancy names, they still follow the two-box body design of station wagons. Although not a completely valid reason according to WP article naming guidelines, a search for "wagon automobile" returns webpages, images, and articles about station wagons. In most cases, the simple term "wagon" by itself is most often related to small pull wagons for kids or ones that are pulled by draught animals for transporting goods. On the other hand, a search for "station wagon" reveals over 50 million pages on the Internet. An authoritative example is the following: Stafford, Eric; Dorian, Drew (5 June 2020). "Best New Station Wagons of 2020". Car and Driver. There are many similar examples of the continued use of the "station wagon" description and the change to simply "wagon (automobile)" should be reverted. Misuse of talk pages

A Wikipedia article's talk page is for messages and discussions about work on editing the corresponding article: it is not a place to post anything else, including substantial article-like content. Please don't continue to post material to talk pages which doesn't belong there. I also see that in a number of cases, having posted huge quantities of unsuitable material to talk pages, you then requested deletion of the pages, without giving any reason. You can't have a page which other editors have created deleted just because you say so. JBW (talk) 19:49, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Lists of sovereign states

A few days ago, I edited a bunch of articles with names like Draft:List of sovereign states in 1985. I changed space-hyphen-space ( - ) to space en dash space ( – ) on many lines; I fixed bold and italic markup, and I fixed <small>...</small> tags that started in one bullet and ended in another bullet. Apparently all of those articles were deleted and now you have recreated them. I just edited Draft:List of sovereign states in 1985, and fixed the dashes and small tags again. From Lint errors: Misnested tags in Draft space I see that there are issues with <small>...</small> tags in four similar drafts, and I assume the dashes are messed up in all of them. I don't want to do all that work again. Are you the same editor who created all of these articles before? What is going on here? —Anomalocaris (talk) 11:19, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Now 18 drafts with misnested <small>...</small> tags that should be fixed as I fixed Draft:List of sovereign states in 1985. —Anomalocaris (talk) 19:24, 7 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Anomalocaris: Could you please remove all the capitals in Draft:List of sovereign states in 2008 and 2009, thx. ColorfulSmoke (talk) 01:25, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I copied your comment from my talk page to your talk page. Let's keep this discussion in one place. If I were going to perform an edit as you suggested, I would edit the draft in the regular editor, not the visual editor, copy the entire wikitext into a word processor, do a "change all" there, then copy the entire wikitext back to the Wikipedia editor. Be aware of things that can go wrong, such as the word processor turning straight quotes and apostrophes into curly quotes and apostrophes. Anyway, that's what I'd do if it were my draft. But I asked you first, and you haven't answered, so please answer the question I started with. Cheers! —Anomalocaris (talk) 02:15, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Each of these drafts, for the years 1986 to 2003, has misnested <small>...</small> tags attributable to markup like

**<small>UK Ascension Island
**Saint Helena Tristan da Cunha</small>

where the small tag can't open inside one bullet and close in another; each bullet point needs its own separate small markup. Also, each of these drafts uses the hyphen (-) instead of the en dash (–). I fixed these drafts once before. Will you please fix them now? —Anomalocaris (talk) 00:30, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Anomalocaris: I have edited all the 60 drafts of sovereign states in 1950-2009. ColorfulSmoke (talk) 12:10, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you did edit these drafts, but all you did was adjust white space in the markup.

You didn't fix the misnested <small>...</small> tags and you didn't change the hyphens to dashes. See

MOS:LISTDASH
for where the Wikipedia Manual of Style calls on using the en dash in this manner.

Please see Misnested tags in the Draft namespace. Again, each of these drafts, for the years 1986 to 2003, has misnested <small>...</small> tags attributable to markup like

**<small>UK Ascension Island
**Saint Helena Tristan da Cunha</small>

where the small tag can't open inside one bullet and close in another; each bullet point needs its own separate small markup. Also, each of these drafts uses the hyphen (-) instead of the en dash (–). The en dash issue is found in every draft from 1950 to 2009, except 1985 and 2007, which I edited January 7 and February 4 respectively.

A few days before January 7, I edited all of these articles, fixing misnested tags and replacing hyphens with en dashes. Those drafts were deleted and you recreated them without my fixes. I fixed them once. Will you please fix them this time? —Anomalocaris (talk) 00:30, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Also, at least some of the articles have unclosed bold markup. For example, Draft:List of sovereign states in 1986 includes the line

* Antigua and Barbuda

where the bold markup should be properly closed with three closing apostrophes (). There are 14 lines like this in this draft, and most likely other drafts have the same issue. I would fix it myself, but as I keep telling you, I edited all of these drafts once before, fixing all such errors. —Anomalocaris (talk) 09:49, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor fixed the misnested tags and missing end tags lint errors. All that's left to fix is the dashes. —Anomalocaris (talk) 07:51, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting deletion of user pages

Hello ColorfulSmoke -- I've deleted your user pages for you; you might like to note in future that the correct tag for requesting deletion of pages within your own userspace (not talk) is db-u1. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 05:50, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have also now deleted some pages for you. However, it really would be more helpful if you could use db-u1, as indicated above by Espresso Addict, because the page would then be sorted into the correct deletion category, making it easier for administrators to keep track of. Hello again -- just deleted some redirects, but could you tag these with Db-author in future, please? It makes deletion easier because the requests are categorised in the correct deletion category, and also the deletion dropdown comes ready populated, making the deletion just a bit quicker. Hello, ColorfulSmoke,

I was wondering if you planned to use the content on this page in an article you are working on. Because otherwise, it looks like it would be eligible for CSD U5, using Wikipedia as a webhost. If this is just a collection of images that you are using for your own interest, maybe you could cut this down as it is an enormous page right now. Thanks. Liz Read! Hi there

Will you please stop editing my userpage? This is very unusual for you to edit my userpage. SpinnerLaserzthe2nd (talk) 04:36, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

User space deletion requests

Hi ColorfulSmoke -- I've deleted these for you but in future it would be helpful to tag them with

G7 instead, as that makes it quicker to delete them. Cheers, Espresso Addict (talk) 05:57, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply

Mac Tonight page

Hey, I was removing some of the details from the moon man section to shorten the page, and since it's less relevant to the mascot Mac Tonight, and since the meme isn't commonly used anymore. Colmedy (talk) 13:42, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be okay if I kept that part of the page shorter? Colmedy (talk) 13:43, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging pages for speedy deletion

Hello, ColorfulSmoke,

Before tagging any more pages for speedy deletion, please review

AFDs but speedy deletion criteria are very specific and limited. Please spend some time reviewing the criteria so you understand when they apply and to which namespaces they apply. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 02:55, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply
