Hello,
I noticed your recent edits to ASC, and I was wondering if you had any sources for the recent history? I've heard most of that stuff as well, especially the recent sales and whatnot, but it would be nice to see some sources. Thanks!
-Searles2sels (PJ) 15:46, 5 February 2007 (UTC) Most of the info was from http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/American-Skiing-Company-Company-History.html
Although I also knew of most of the stuff from previous newspaper articles. By the way my older brother is a senior at Colorado College.
- Cool, thanks for the link. Who's your older bro? I just graduated in May... -Searles2sels (PJ) 15:36, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Skimap.org
Hi. I noticed your recent edits to quite a few of the mountains on my watchlist. The project has a
- Hi, I actually read that policy before I started posting links. I read it to mean there shouldn't be a vast directory of links for each article. Ski trail maps in my opinion fall into Wikipedia's link guidelines that links should be relevant content that is not appropriate for Wikipedia. I disagree with your assertion that historic and current ski maps are not helpful to the majority of ski area article readers. Please let me know what you think. Are you asking that all of those links be deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Crystalmountainskier (talk • contribs) 21:39, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- No, not yet. I wanted to better understand your position. Just as a side note, in the future, you should type four tildes (~~~~) after your comment. Once you save your edit, that'll put your "signature" there. In any event, I agree that current maps are helpful, and that's why we link to the official websites of the mountains, which almost always do have trail maps. On the other hand, historical maps aren't quite as important to most readers, and for those who would like to find that sort of information, Google or DMOZ should be a better resource. Would you agree? user:j (aka justen) 22:32, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, again. I've asked others for their thoughts on your links here. You may want to comment there. Thanks. user:j (aka justen) 22:59, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- A bigger issue is that the site you're adding violates copyrights-- see Wikipedia:El#Restrictions_on_linking. It's not enough to say on the site "if you don't want your stuff here, let me know".
- BTW, it's almost always a bad idea to add a particular external link to dozens of articles; it tends to set of folk's spam radar. It also raises questions of the editor's relationship to the site in question (see WP:COI). Better to check first at a project page to get a read on whether the site passes muster before putting in the effort. -- Mwanner | Talk 23:49, 4 August 2008 (UTC)]

Ok, I didn't really think about the copyright issue for that website. I wonder is some of the old maps, from say the '50's fall under the same rules. Anyways, as I was looking through all those articles, I realized there are a lot of links that really don't seem to fit. How are ski lift pictures from skilift.org relevant? In some of the Colorado ski area articles there are a ton of links to reservations websites. Aren't those considered Spam? It seems like people try and sneak links in by only putting them on a few articles and people don't notice Crystalmountainskier (talk) 01:22, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- I would encourage you to be WP:SPAM. Thanks again! Take care. user:j (aka justen) 02:02, 5 August 2008 (UTC)]
- To be free of copyright in the US, material must have been published before 1923 (or be published by the federal gov't, or be explicitly public domain). And user:j is right, if you see commercial links, feel free to shoot on sight! Think about it-- if there's one thing that makes Wikipedia really special, it's the (almost) complete lack of marketing. Cheers! -- Mwanner | Talk 17:58, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I just wrote an article on Peak 2 Peak Gondola on the German WP and I would very much like to show your beautiful picture there but I have problems: deWP does not allow me to make a link to enWP; both helpers to transfer it to Commons say that the file does not exist in enWP; and I am not competent enough to transfer it to Commons myself. So it would be great if you would transfer it to Commons which might be the easiest way. Thanks from Germany --AHert (talk) 19:33, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Jackson Hole Airport, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page American Eagle (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
