Dweller, aware you're semi-retired but lately active on some interesting pages, I wanted to bring to your attention the curious case of Walter O'Brien, which struggles with the fictional CBS show and the real-life version who appears to consult U.S. Army and others on what we must see as vetted, technical, and competitive projects including artificial intelligence. In all lights, the page runs afoul of WP:NPOV. I have no issue with these edits to "Century", but I do have an issue with one of the edit summaries:

The Anno Domini system of numbering years was created by Dionysius Exiguus in 525. He did not explain how he calculated or estimated the incarnation of Jesus, which he intended to commemorate. He also did not indicate which year of his notation he thought the incarnation occurred in; Using modern notation, he might have thought it was in 2 BC, 1 BC, or AD 1. He also did not make any suggestions about how to represent years before AD 1; he was only concerned with years in his Easter Table, which started in 532. No one seriously contends that a document that uses consistent notation should use "1 AD" and "0"; "1 AD" and "1 BC" go together. But if one decided to use, for example, astronomical year numbering and designate those years "1" and "0", it would not be a valid argument that the century before the first was -99 to 0 inclusive because Dionysius intended 1 as the year of the Incarnation of Jesus. He might just have well intended 0 or -1. So a person who wanted to designate the century before the first century as -100 to -1 inclusive would be on equally solid ground. The Gregorian calendar can be extrapolated backward from its adoption in October 1582, in which case it's sometimes called the "proleptic Gregorian calendar" (but not everyone bothers with "proleptic". Notation that uses year 0, year −1, etc. can be used with the proleptic Gregorian calendar. ISO 8601 requires this (although it would use the notation 0000, −0001, etc.). One of the systems I had not been directly involved in for years, the portals, was nominated for deletion (yes, all portals, and the portal namespace) in an RfC that drew over 500 Wikipedians to comment.

It wasn't going well for portals, due to the pile on effect. I noticed that they hadn't notified the pages nominated for deletion. So, I intervened. :)

Many editors came to the portals' defense, and it turned out that many people are interested in portals, and we now have a thriving Portals WikiProject of 84 members.

Hi I recently undid your edit on the above page concerning his knighthood. I like you, initially thought there was an error on the year as he was on the 2015 birthday honours list but I checked out the sources and in fact the list is simply "PRIME MINISTER’S RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE BIRTHDAY HONOURS" which the Queen approves but the knighthood itself is conferred at a later date as per [2] and Van's knighthood was conferred in 2016. Unfortunately, the Greek construction involved isn't very precise in its meaning. The nominative singular name Ελεαζαρος is followed by a masculine nominative singular definite article, so what follows could be a description (Alexandros ho Megas) or an alternative name, etc. It's certainly not any ordinary or direct way of indicating "son of", but it should be kept in mind that Jerome claims to have had access to the lost Hebrew original text of 1 Maccabees... Some of the sources think it's a nickname. Jerome clearly has a different tradition, but we know Elazar's dad was Matityahu, so unless Jerome thinks Matityahu also had a nickname or he thinks this is a different Elazar, he's either mistranslating his Hebrew text, or he has a defective one. I wonder if he had a Hebrew text translated from the Greek, rather than the original? That would make a lot of sense. --

Hi, I saw you had a question (When I was checking the history on that page) on why they couldn't just use the pole as a lechi as is often done. One thing with an eruv wire is that is has to be at the top of the lechi. In many cases the wires on the telephone pole cross in a T with the pole so it's not on top, and putting something on the top of the pole would be too high so a shorter lechi is used adjacent to the telephone pole. I ran across the account Mohamed Ouda today after noticing he had re-created (not moved) a rejected draft in main space. I moved it back, then looked at his contributions.... and it's full of user account renamings. Mohamed Ouda has been here since 2008, he has less than 500 edits on en-wiki, and no user rights (other than autoconfirmed), although his talk page says he's an admin on the Arabic Wikipedia. I thought only bureaucrats could rename accounts. Can anybody do it? Could I as an admin rename accounts? Hi, I can't tell if my comment was accepted or not. Pinging @Doug Weller:. The version "Registered accounts with fewer than 500 edits and with less than 30 days tenure are also prohibited." is wrong. Literally it says that to be prohibited you need to have both less than 500 edits and also less than 30 days. But in fact either of those things alone makes you prohibited. I suggest that it would be less liable to misreading if worded with fewer negatives: "Registered accounts are only permitted if they have been registered for at least 30 days and have made at least 500 edits." 		Hello Dweller, Early in A Child's Christmas in Wales the young Dylan and his friend Jim Prothero witness smoke pouring from Jim's home. After the conflagration has been extinguished Dylan writes that Nobody could have had a noisier Christmas Eve. And when the firemen turned off the hose and were standing in the wet, smoky room, Jim's Aunt, Miss. Prothero, came downstairs and peered in at them. Jim and I waited, very quietly, to hear what she would say to them. She said the right thing, always. She looked at the three tall firemen in their shining helmets, standing among the smoke and cinders and dissolving snowballs, and she said, "Would you like anything to read?"
