WikiProject C-SPAN?

Greetings fellow Wikipedia editor -

I am leaving you this note because I have reason to believe that you are interested in C-SPAN. (I may have made this assumption based on your C-SPAN user box, or perhaps for some other reason.) If this is not an interest of yours, please feel free to read no further and delete this message.

If you are in fact someone who is interested in C-SPAN, then let me put forward an idea that I have been kicking around for a while. What if we started a C-SPAN WikiProject?

The parameters of this (potential) project are up for discussion, but it could include some or all of the following (as well as things that may occur to you that have not occurred to me):

  • Creation, maintenance, and improvement of articles and lists directly related to C-SPAN and its programming.
  • Use of C-SPAN programming in citations for various topics
  • Inclusion of unique and targeted C-SPAN video links for various articles. (Doing this with respect for established guidelines at Wikipedia:External links.) (Example: If you are interested in the submarine USS Wyoming (SSBN-742), then having easy access to the eight hours of programming taped while a C-SPAN crew were guests on that submarine could also be of interest to you.)
  • Inclusion of (and possible further creation of) templated links such as {{C-SPAN|laurabush}}, that will easily take article readers to a link of all C-SPAN Video Library links for the person about whom the article is about.
  • What else?

I don't know exactly how far we may want to go, nor in what directions, but I do believe (as I have long noted on my user page) that C-SPAN and Wikipedia are both...

...fantastic vehicles for the free exchange of ideas and information in a non-sound-bite manner, and they both invite the participation of any parties (expert or amateur) who are interested in taking the time to absorb and/or contribute to the ideas and information offered. C-SPAN and Wikipedia go together like peanut butter and jelly, and I want to help give other Wiki users easy access to the great work that C-SPAN has done on a variety of topics.

Now, I should mention that I have never started a WikiProject before, and I do not know the best way to go about it. (Perhaps one of you do?) Let me offer one of my sandbox pages, User:KConWiki/sandbox/Wikiproject C-SPAN?, as a gathering area for comments until such time as we gather enough steam to start our own WikiProject page.

Thanks for reading this far, and I hope that you will give some consideration as to whether this is something we ought to attempt. Please feel free to pass this message on to others you know whom might be interested, and please let me know your thoughts and comments.

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article I'm not a scientist is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/I'm not a scientist until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

swhelper editing account

I received notice of the conflict of interest flag that you added. I am an editor for Social Work Helper, and there was no intent on my part to hide this information. Unfortunately, I have not seen where social work related content is being updated. Social Work Helper is the authoritative digital publication for social work as Psychology Today is for psychology. It would be preferable to us if editors where interested in updating social work content. The articles may seem promotional in nature because they are to socialworkhelper.com. However, the content being added is related to making corrections, providing definitions in social work related topics, and updating Wikipedia Individual pages with the current publications specifically in social work. Social Work Helper is the first social work digital publication invited to a White House briefing and given press access to another White House Event. In addition, we have press access for NY Comic Con 2015. Who is else is going to write about this? I am open to any suggestions you have to help resolve this issue.

Request for opinion

Hi Edgeweyes: Sorry to trouble you, but I could not help but notice your expression of affection for TOS on the Wikipedians who like Star Trek: The Original Series page, and so I would be curious of your thoughts on the notability of a Star Trek author for whom I just created a Wikipedia article -- which may be promptly destined for the trash pile. As a newcomer here at Wikipedia, my first article attempt was indeed recommended for deletion within hours of its creation by a senior user named JzG who seems to me to be overly hostile and dismissive of Star Trek, calling it fancruft (= trivial, obscure, of importance to just a tiny group of fanatics) . Since you are a Trek fan, if it is also your good faith opinion that my subject is in no way deserving of an article on this site; and you could let me know, I would feel much more comfortable with the justice of the pending deletion action. My proposed article may be seen here, assuming you visit the page soon enough ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerald_Gurian Kind Regards. Tosresearcher (talk) 05:30, 7 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, the subject of that article does not meet Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion as outlined at Wikipedia:Notability (people). Edgeweyes (talk) 15:07, 10 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia rules

Wikipedia is not a collection of product announcements and rumors. Although Wikipedia includes up-to-date knowledge about newly revealed products, short articles that consist only of product announcement information are not appropriate. Until such time that more encyclopedic knowledge about the product can be verified, product announcements should be merged to a larger topic (such as an article about the creator(s), a series of products, or a previous product) if applicable. Speculation and rumor, even from reliable sources, are not appropriate encyclopedic content.--31.202.25.100 (talk) 18:12, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I kept Hamas because Turkey supports Hamas which is designated by US, EU and Israel as a terrorist organization and the support is confirmed.--31.202.25.100 (talk) 18:14, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The text highlighted in your comment is referring to product announcements, and in this context is not a general statement that applies to what you are editing. Even if it were, what you are removing is clearly not speculation and rumor. Edgeweyes (talk) 18:19, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Edits to the bio of Kayzie Rogers

Hello,

I am Kayzie Rogers, and yes, I have been trying to edit my bio. What I edit in there keeps being deleted even though I source it.

I just don't have any idea how my 20 years of work on the Pokemon TV series (662 episodes) is not considered a fact. My credit under "Animation" for Pokemon keeps being deleted. The TV series is not the same as the film series. Movies were once a year. TV shows were once a week.

As proof I did this work: I am listed in the credits on the show. I am also listed in a few sources (on the web) as having performed in the show.

The sources above which I referenced last time I tried to edit didn't work. My edit was deleted anyway. Isn't IMDb (the internet Movie Data Base), at least, considered a reliable source?

How can I go about getting the credit I deserve for 20 years of work on a television show? Please help me with this. Thank you.

I'm not sure how to help you. I also don't understand why all your edits were reversed. I tried enlisting help from others, as I mentioned on your talk page, but no one responded. I'm not sure what else to do. Maybe you can ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Edgeweyes (talk) 19:39, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the comment at Tia Carrere. I agree there are further BLP issues there, would you consider reverting to a more BLP-compliant version? --Mike

I don't understand why you were so aggressively reverted, but in this situation it is probably best to start a talk page discussion instead. Edgeweyes (talk) 19:42, 27 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Edit revert

The previous wording is not better. Also known as is better to use. In this case, since you reverted my edit, I would use “also known on rebranding stores as Dunkin' Donuts”, not “currently rebranding stores as”.

talk) 12:57, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply

I think changing to the phrase "also known on rebranding stores as Dunkin' Donuts" is a terrible idea. It is ungrammatical and unclear. Edgeweyes (talk) 14:53, 14 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
