Glen Waverley =

Hi Guilded Snail. I have spent hours making huge changes to this site as a local Glen Waverley historian. They are true and accurate. As to why you are chosing to delete them is implausable. Therefore I am simply deleting the posts I have made and had verified by local people living in Glen Wavereley as I do. I am pretty dissapointed to have all my changes now being claimed selectivly, rather than keep them all up. Its poor, and stops me from updating other historical amendmants to localities in the area. Thank you and please stop, as I am happy to republish, just keep it all up there. Its not a part pregnant approach. Nothing is offensive, they are all from my current IP address. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:8003:D50E:BF01:1D95:257A:159E:F7E8 (talk) 16:07, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I just undid the deletions that you have been doing, since they show up in the "recent changes to wikipedia" log. I can't make ALL of your changes to wikipedia show up or not show up, since people may want to edit individual pages or sentences-- I'm sorry that some of them are being deleted or edited, but it's not all or nothing. Hope it works out. Gilded Snail (talk) 17:59, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Hello anon, your previous addition of Darryl Cardona was reverted as while the source you added proves the Wheel of Fortune claim, it unfortunately does not describe the person's connection to Glen Waverley, Victoria. If there is another source, maybe from the local Melbourne paper, that describes the connection, then he can be re-added to the notable people list without trouble. Jalen D. Hi Gilded Snail the page Caron Bowman is not an autobiography. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bowmanga1278 (talkcontribs) 14:30, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bowmanga1278, I tagged the page with the "autobiography" because I had reason to believe that it had been edited by someone who had connections to the subject of the article. This is primarily because the page bears a strong similarity to the artist statement on an outside website. If this connection does not exist and it simply happens to be a coincidence, it may be helpful to add more sources or rewrite some of the material so that it does not contain material that may be original research. For example, a sentence like "Moreover, she had a great interest in the visual language of Takashi Murakami and Daphne Odjig" should not be in a Wikipedia article unless there is some sort of outside source (that is not the artist's website or a social media site) that can confirm it. Thanks! Gilded Snail (talk) 17:37, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Will do, it might take some time because I am doing research to update another page. Anderson 20:10, 15 July 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bowmanga1278 (talkcontribs)

Dharmabumx

Hi Gilded Snail, wanted to clarify that the page 'Strikingly' was not meant to be promotional. This page should not be speedy deleted because it's created according to the format of other similar companies that are on wikipedia. The tone can definitely be modified according to Wikipedia's standards and include only the most important facts that are referenced. Thanks.

Dharmabumx, I can definitely understand that the page may have not been created with the intentions of promotion! However, just because similar companies have wikipedia pages does not mean that the page Strikingly also meets wikipedia guidelines. In short, company pages have to be shown to be notable through good outside sources. For example, the New York Times saying something like "McDonald's is the world's largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants" would count as a good outside source. If you can find sources of similar quality (not the company's website, not social media networks, etc) that provide unbiased information, then feel free to use those sources to write an article.
If you want to create another article on wikipedia, I would recommend using the Sandbox. It is a place where you can create articles and make them better without people deleting them. Then, when you are ready, you can make them into real articles. This is a good way to make sure that you are writing high-quality articles. Thanks! Hello Gilded Snail

Re your tagging of this new page as "orphan". The page is in fact reference by at least two other Wikipedia pages (listed below), and therefore this tagging is not appropriate; please remove the tag. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/802.1aq#Product_Support - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avaya#Products

Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick

What is the problem with my article about Liedekerke Wolters Waelbroeck Kirkpatrick and why do you want to delete it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:2788:104:166:D54F:3413:1EDD:767B (talk) 18:36, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello
notable enough for Wikipedia standards. This isn't a personal attack on your article, and I understand that it was created with the best of intentions to contribute to Wikipedia. However, when a page gets speedy-deleted for those reasons, generally the problem is that the article isn't written in a very neutral manner and/or that not enough outside references can be cited to show that it is actually a page that should be on Wikipedia. :For example, if you include a phrase in an article about a company saying it provides excellent customer service, that is not neutral and is considered advertisement. However, mentioning that the company has won three national awards for customer service and is featured in several prominent news sources (and providing citations to prove those awards) is neutral. If you have sources showing why that company is important, feel free to create articles on that subject. Better yet, you may want to try creating articles in the Sandbox, where you can write articles and improve them with the help of others before moving it into main article space. Thanks! Hello Gilded Snail

What is the problem with my article about Brianne Siddall and why do you want to delete it? Because that article was one the best articles for people to edit and update information, so do you know? Norozco1 (talk)

Sure, I can provide you with that source, only i don't have that source where you were nominated in the deletion discussion, but that's why i came to you, to see if you'd help me on bring back the deleted article, here's a link to a draft that i'd started doing for you to help with this, as part of the deletion discussion:

I've never actually created an article before and I don't have any interest in doing so, so I may not be the best person to ask for help with this. However, I've added some references to
WP:BLP). I would recommend that you head on over to the AfC help desk to find someone who will be better at helping you with article creation. Good luck! Gilded Snail (talk) 21:10, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply

Thanks for the information for my article, and i'll be sure to use the the AfC help desk link so that i can find some help with the draft. :-) Norozco1 (talk)

Esperanto profanity

Thanks for your corrections; unfortunately, I had the article in use as you made it, without support for merging in Wikimedia, I fear most of your corrections got reverted. :-(

In headings, my grammar tells nouns (adjectives and substantives) get capitalised. Has WP a different policy?

I tried to convey an abstract in the heading. A "cultural reference" in itself is no profanity; the Québequois principle ("sacralities" - in Québec literally, Chalice, Tabernacle and so on are sacral language, as is Bavarian "Crucifix!!!") is the core reason for "Aktoj de la Akademio!" or "Fundamenta Krestomatio!". As Esperanto is no liturgical language and totally independent from a single cultural heritage context, the "cultural references" are the "lowest common denominator" enabling widely intelligible "sacralities", not church vocabulary that would not be understandable eg. in Islam or Buddhist countries. --217.224.148.215 (talk) 23:18, 21 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @217.224.148.215 . Wikipedia does indeed have different conventions for headings. See
MOS:HEAD for more information. What I was trying to do with my edits was to fix the capitalization, as well as ensure that the headings didn't become too wordy. As such, I'm changing "minced words, words that are puns on taboo words (vortludoj)" to "Minced oaths (vortludoj)", as "minced oaths" can refer both to minced words and words that are puns on profanities. Thanks, Gilded Snail (talk) 23:47, 21 July 2017 (UTC)[reply

Thank you kindly! Yes, most often somebody reading a paragraph as an outsider can compress the meanings more easily than the original author. --217.224.148.215 (talk) 13:09, 22 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the high-quality chemical diagrams! In one of your edit swapping in File:Bischler-Naperialski reaction to papaverine.svg to replace File:Papaverine bn.gif, you said there was a mistake in the old image. Could you tag or annotate that image's page with the specific problem? If it's serious, maybe even send it to deletion, given you already supplied a correct replacement. DMacks (talk) 19:26, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, this is interesting-- after visiting the original, it seems that the image itself is not actually incorrect, but for some reason when it's displayed on a white background it gets condensed/compressed (?) such that an entire bond appears to be gone. (So, I guess, for all intents and purposes it's incorrect since it always appears that way, but I didn't realize that there was no mistake on the part of the original poster besides maybe a poor choice of file format.) Commented that there and may send to deletion, since I'm not really sure what the point is of having two of them. Thanks. Gilded Snail (talk) 20:31, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
