Now this talk page will appear too. I will look at a no-index option as I still think this article is 50% viable. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:40, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Can you let me know the outcome of the no index option? Thanks 94.195.185.253 (talk) 07:44, 10 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have applied the noindex, and Bing and Google do not list the Wikipedia page. However other sites have copied the Wikipedia page. Because of the license of the text this is allowed, but if they have not attributed the author or given the license they are in breach of copyright and if you are the author you can issue a DCMA take down order to them. Fall 2012 Online Ambassador Program

Hi, Graeme!

If you're still planning to work with a class in the US and Canada Education Program this Fall, please add your name to this census. Once the new class list is available, I will notify you guys so you can sign up for a class (or two) that interests you. I know you had a lot of classes last semester and were planning to support fewer this term, so if you're still on board, please indicate how many you're interested in working with. I hope you're still interested in supporting these students for the coming term, especially since I heard back from quite a few people that you'd been a great help. Thanks, Graeme! My RfA

Thank you very much for your participation in my RfA, which I withdrew shortly prior to the deadline. I appreciate your interest in my candidacy, and I'm glad I took the opportunity to learn various new things

By the way, just as a side note, I had completely forgotten this discussion I had on my talk page with Supreme Deliciousness, where I told him that the licensing issues had not left my attention and I was not sure how I to alter it, but that the point was moot because a newer and more properly licensed image had been added in its place.

I also should mention that I did in fact search for Wikipedia's image copyright policies, but I initially found the relevant policy pages slightly hard to navigate. Thankfully Philosopher and Hahc21 were there as well, otherwise I'd have been lost.

In any case, I still have quite a bit to learn, as I've discovered in recent times (specifically with

1946-1954 Aussie photos

I have just had 2 photos licenced as PD-Aust, but maybe not PD-USA, challenged as being non-free. Trying to find out REAL details on whether and why this is the case, I found your comments in Wikipedia:Media_copyright_questions/Archive/2011/July#Is_File:BASantamaria.jpg_PD.3F. Were you wrong about the statement "if the photo was taken or published in Australia and not elsewhere before 1955 then the US will recognise it too"? I'm starting to think that this should just be a text only website. The-Pope (talk) 13:28, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have been repeating arguments that I heard elsewhere, or read in the commons templates. The debate will come down to URAA versus free trade agreement. For crown copyright expiry I think there is still an opportunity to argue the case. I have failed to find the text of the free trade agreement. Text will suffer the same problem, but it is far easier to write a piece of text again than to take a photo from the period. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:27, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

AP question

I noticed that you have experience assigning AP rights, so I hope you wont mind my asking a question regarding this right for a colleague of mine. My colleague User:Evermore2 has written 124 articles here, 6 of which have been dyk. His aricles are well written, and I've helped him with several expansions of considerable length, including Ivan Bunin and Aleksey Pisemsky. The majority of his contributions are in the field of Russian literature. He has several FA and GA articles on Russian wiki as ru:Участник:Evermore. Do you think he qualifies for AP here, and if so, can you assign him the right? The reason I ask is that he has stuck completely to article-space edits here, and so hasn't made any offical requests, etc. Thanks for your time. INeverCry 18:02, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is an article that you've worked on through the afc process. I am bemused by the first sentence, particularly the words I've bolded:

My first thought was petty vandalism, but the words have been there since the article was first created. I took a quick look at the article Perth Heat, but the phrase doesn't appear there. Can you shed any light?

Vietnamese cities and provinces

You are moving articles from English to Vietnamese-language titles "per request at my talk page". What does this mean?

NCGN recommends following the style of Britannica and similar references, see Yen Bai, Phan Thiet, or Vung Tau. No atlas, encyclopedia, or other geographic reference work uses Yên Bái, Phan Thiết, or Vũng Tàu. Kauffner (talk) 21:32, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply
]

See Talk:Cà Mau#Requested move 3 baaed on the consensus. Rather than going for G6, the previous move were controversial and have been reversed. There are about 600 more moves you requested that may also be reversed. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 22:22, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
None of locations you moved were listed in any recent RM. Most of the people voting in the Ca Mau RM wanted to restore the 7 August 2011 Can Tho RM. So I don't see how this RM can apply to items that weren't listed in the earlier RM.
Yen Bai province isn't even a city, and certainly wasn't in the Can Tho city list RM. It is now the only province with a title that uses Vietnamese-language spelling. These articles were moved to ASCII titles almost a year ago. If they can stay at the locations I moved them to undisturbed for a year, that confirms that the moves were not controversial at the time I made them. If there is no time limit on these things, why not move everything back to pre-2006 ASCII titles? RMs are not supposed to be interpreted as if they were common law precedents. The guidelines represent consensus. Not one of the recommendations or references given in NCGN supports moving these titles to Vietnamese-language spelling. Kauffner (talk) 01:58, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply
]
Graeme, FYI Kauffner has already repeatedly been asked to stop making claims such as "that confirms that the moves were not controversial at the time I made them" since apart from the closing admin on the Talk:Cần Thơ/Archive 1 RM User:Arbitrarily0 02:48, 7 August 2011 (UTC), complaints from Vietnamese Users and WP:VIET article creators such as "without consulting the WP:VIET, or at least, having some words with me. I cannot agree with that kind of manner." User:Grenouille vert, Kauffner also received specific warnings on his Talk page from admin User:Prolog and User:Gimmetoo regarding these moves, but deleted them. Maybe Kauffner can supply the dates he was asked to stop by Prolog and Gimmetoo, as well as whether any other Users objected to the moves. In any case the consistent result of all RMs on geographic names should be upheld. Cheers. In ictu oculi (talk) 02:29, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • If IIO gets his way, articles about the Czech Republic will be full of Czech words, articles about Germany will be full of German words, and articles about Vietnam will be full of Vietnamese words. Then the nationalists of every nation can sit around feeling smug, but who's supposed to be the readership for polyglot Wikipedia? Perhaps everyone can just read about their own country. Kauffner (talk) 11:08, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I thought there was a RFC on the topic recently at
WP:TITLE but after a quick look I could not see it. Is it conclusive? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:48, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply
    ]
Hi Graeme, no Kauffner started an RfC at WT:Naming conventions (Vietnamese), i.e. the talk page of what is largely his own essay. Despite having canvassed those known to be against Vietnamese names, or simply WP:CONSERVATISM (quite why I'm not sure), the result was 23 for Vietnamese titles, 16 against. Not a giant majority, but in line with all 3 RMs on Vietnamese place names. - and again enough to illustrate that the 600 G6 "uncontroversial" moves were not "uncontroversial".
As for the xenophobic content in the above message; 99.99% of titles for Czech and German articles are at Czech and German spellings and always have been. The Vietnam articles were at about 80-90% at Vietnamese titles before Kauffner moved the 1,800. In ictu oculi (talk) 12:04, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose we can say that the canvassed RfC is not as conclusive as the result of the 3 RMs, no. But the specific issue of place names was not raised, and some of those invited to the RfC are against French and Irish names too, so all in all, no reason to ignore the results of the RMs. In ictu oculi (talk) 12:07, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm involved here and was asked to comment, so you may wish to take this with a pinch of salt, but my suggestion would be not to make any more moves until the RfC concludes. Jenks24 (talk) 06:17, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW the RfC has like most of similar talking shops concluded. There hasn't been a new vote since the first 3 days, 3 weeks ago. But that's still fine, the 600 "uncontroversial moves" can wait on being restored in line with the RMs for another 7 days. In ictu oculi (talk) 08:58, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • I was not expecting my talk page to be an RFC on the RFC. What I have done is reverse my moves that clearly were controversial, and I can tell that any other similar moves are controversial too. So I won't be doing more until the RFC is concluded and closed. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:23, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, more than fine by me, thanks Graeme :) In ictu oculi (talk) 09:27, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The issue of the page moves has already been to ANI and was referred to the RfC. IIO repeatedly brought the issue up at the RfC, but it didn't much traction. Other editors didn't demand that these titles be moved back. I don't accept IIO's vote count, but the pro-diacritic side did have a slight edge. No specific proposal got majority support, much less a consensus. Kauffner (talk) 14:27, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Graeme, please note that:
(i) WP:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive761#Kauffner_mass_moves_away_from_diacritics_against_consensus was made 2 days before Kauffner's use of logged out edits to hide 2 previous contrary RMs on Vietnamese towns (contrary Ca Mau RM, contrary Can Tho RM) before requesting G6 dbmoves contrary to RM results - actioned by Graeme/Edgar181/MalikShabazz - was noticed, so this issue has never been before ANI.
(ii) And of course the RfC proposition proposed by Kauffner did also not make mention of his logged out activity, deletion of contrary RM notices, nor open the question of whether his 600 G6 proxy dbmoves should be reverted. My understanding is that this is firstly an issue for the admins who actioned the moves rather than having a referendum.
In ictu oculi (talk) 22:20, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The admins will do things by request, and if controversial by consensus, so if a group has a referendum of policy based consensus they can request those admins to act, or other admins to step in and do the job. Of course if you have an RFC with the result that an admin has to do 600 moves, it will look like a large job and deter people from solosing the discussion! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 01:13, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Graeme. Yes, though that technical issue in itself doesn't strike me as an insuperable problem since any such RfC could naturally and easily find admin volunteers among the majority 23 who expressed opposition to anglicizing Vietnamese titles on the canvassed RfC (at least 5 or 6 of whom are admins), to parcel up any resultant housekeeping. What's more an issue is how one could even have a clean RfC so soon after one compromised by canvassing. Anyway, nothing has to be done in a hurry, this can go slowly, and slowly build from areas of consensus. It's only in last 2-3 months that opposition to Czech names has evaporated on en.wp, so slowly, openly and cleanly would seem to be the way to proceed. We're all learning; 3 months ago I was talking nonsense about Serbian names on the (misinformed) belief that Serbians always used cyrillic, a couple of Serbian editors educated me otherwise. Thanks for your time again, very much appreciated your attitude and assistance on this. In ictu oculi (talk) 03:18, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The project was planned in 1966 and several times the israeli ministers tried to start the construction and someone stopped everything at the last minute. in israel it is not a secret that Antisemitic parties with political movements Jewish haters that affect in the all regime in the country since the founding of the state. another project that planned to built near to the World Bible Center is not far away from the World Kabbalah Center project next to the UN Headquarters Promenade in Talpiot neighborhood overlooking Mount Zion and the city walls from south. this project is stuck 2006. פארוק (talk) 12:23, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your assistance. Since the article in question is on a religion, and the changes refer exclusively to a book, I have suggested that the editor in question vcreate a book page, although I personally think it is not necessary.

As I have clarified on the talk page of the article, the claim that the Odin Brotherhood is somehow imaginary is dead wrong.

Melton's Encyclopedia of American Religions IS the DEFINITIVE book on religion in America, and Dr. Melton's well-researched book does NOT include imaginary groups.--Heathenguy (talk) 04:21, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply

Please Help on the Odin Brotherhood page!

Sir, I agree. The Odin Brotherhood page should NOT be about a book, but about the religion discussed in the Encyclopedia of American religions. Could you help me? I have tried to revert it to religion, not the book, but I have two people reversing me.

Thank you.--Heathenguy (talk) 00:30, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited the new page, but it really should go back to where it was. --Heathenguy (talk) 00:30, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, well hey! How about that! Thanks for the note, I hardly recall working on this article, but it's certainly neat to see it's gotten some recent attention. Bob the WikipediaN (talkcontribs) 07:06, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Possible page move

Hi Bob, I was wondering if you could move the article at Eucommia to the species page Eucommia ulmoides which is currently a redirect to the genus. I'm working on writing up the North American fossil species and would love to have a simplified genus article to link them to rather then the genus/species combo page that's there now. Thanks! As a note, I cross-posted this to Bob the Wikipedian's talk also, but am not sure how active he is right now.--Kevmin § 07:56, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

AWB

Hi Graeme. There's a bit of a backlog at AWB perm requests. You do a great job there so I don't usually work there when I know when you're around. Perhaps you could close some of them. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:08, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You're not going to believe this. An editor has openly accused you of photoshopping this image you uploaded of Jim Wallace in order to make him look stupid

Request undeletion of Kohana (Web Framework)

Hello Graeme Bartlett I would like to request the undeletion of Kohana (Web Framework). The page has been gone for a while now and Kohana has evolved. There have been books published and known applications have been made with Kohana like Wepay. Other notable frameworks have been created out of Kohana like FuelPHP shown here: FuelPHP Cookie.php. It's one of the bigger and actively developed frameworks around. I think this framework does deserve to be in the listing. Even Rasmus Lerdorf has been using Kohana and he is the Father of PHP: PHP internals and Kohana Dev Page and Rasmus Personal Blog. Would it be possible to Restore the page so we can maintain it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.200.113.201 (talk) 12:38, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Need help with creation of Article of Creation : Walter Williams, Sr.

Hi Mr. Bartlett, I am User DSCLARKE. I have been trying to add an Article on R&B singer Walter Williams of The O'Jays. You declined the Article in October 2012 citing copyright infringement. I have since rewritten the article and have been waiting for a response. It has been over 30 days and I don't know if there is something furthur that I should do. Please assist me if possible. Thank You! DSCLARKE — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dsclarke (talkcontribs) 09:04, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have written the biographies that are stopping me

Hi Mr. Bartlett, User DSCLARKE again. The reason that I am writing this article is that I am The O'Jays publicist and noticed that wiki had an article on Eddie Levert, Sr.(founding member of the O'Jays) but did not contain an article on the other founding member Walter Williams, Sr. I have written many of the BIO's used for The O'Jays including the one on http://eddiewlevert.com/bio.html and levertfatherandson.com/bio/ both containing the sentence 'The Triumps played locally in Canton opening for different acts, playing sock hops and just about everything that came up. ' that I wrote from interviews with Walter and Eddie'. You will also find my BIO for The O'Jays on the official website www.theojayshomepage.com and in our official press kit that is distributed worldwide and used by the media with our permission. What can I do about this predicament? Thank You! DSCLARKE
