So far we have a variety of contributors, the least qualified of which are at an Undergraduate level (such as myself) ranging up to Clinical psychologists with 30 years experience, and Retired researchers and academics. Hey there. It is normally not conventonal for someone to edit a userpage that doesn't belong to them. But I have edited your sandboz to remove the Wikify tag, because your userpage shows up on Category:Articles that need to be wikified. One of the challenges of wikis is the sheer range of people to which you expose your writings, and the oft-unexpected directions from which they evaluate your writings ... and yourself. Thus the frequent insistence that users who wish to be Wikipedia admins should have first demonstrated the ability to bring an article to a high condition, weathering comments and suggestions (good or ill) in the process.

Thus a passing wikipedian notices the ordinarily innocuous "my real page" and is very much put out - the thought that any page on the Wikipedia should not be considered 'real' is shocking. Surely you mean "your external home page" or "work-related page?" Aghast at your inadvertent wiki-denigration I beg you to reconsider.

• Thanks for the suggestion of using Christian_terrorism as a topic in my class. I actually was looking for something that is less obviously controversial to "normal" people, so I went the heated argument about the size of the 2nd Death Star that I found on the Lamest Edit War Page. I'll still use your idea, though. I'll mention Christian Terrorism as we get into "real" arguments and how Wikipedia adresses them. Thanks for your help! One of the reasons I suggest the topic is because of the variability of definitions of terrorism, based on value systems and cultures. I find it amazing how disparate people's views are on this particular topic. When directed more specifically at the group in the majority amongst English speaking peoples, the concept is seen as a lot more "controversial" than when directed at more marginalized populations. Hi! Since you're listed as a Wikipedian in Pittsburgh, I wanted to invite you to the Wikipedia Tenth Anniversary celebrations we're having in Pittsburgh on Saturday, January 15. During the daytime, we're going to be having a photo contribution drive where anyone can bring in their digital photos or prints and Wikipedians will teach people how to upload them and add them to articles, and maybe introduction to Wikipedia workshops as well. Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of
