Hi there, please consider reverting the wording to 'killed himself'. This is accurate, neutral, and how it is referred to in the show. 'Commit' does not inherently refer to a crime, but that is the origin of this phrase in particular (e.g. commit homicide), which is now outdated and is recommended to be avoided in the press: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide#Definitions. Hey @82.30.183.150, that was an interesting read. I find the phrasing of "killed him/herself" to be more blunt and harsh than "committed suicide", but perhaps that's just me. While I don't personally agree that "commit" carries any type of negative connotation (commit to a school, to a partner, to cause), the fact that several news companies have deprecated the phrasing means that at least some people take the phrasing seriously. I've changed it back to your previous phrasing, you have good reasoning for the change you want to make and I appreciate that you took the time reach out about it. Hi Josh,

I added an accolade (Built Ford Tough Offensive Line of the Year) to John Sullivan (Rams), later seeing it was originally deleted in January. Spf121188 was nice enough to respond to my message asking him about that deletion.

Your name popped up, and I thought of "Mister Accolade". I saw 4 other players that had it listed. These gray areas get me.

I do agree with Spf121188, it really isn't a top-notch award that needs to be there. I'm all for removing them. What do you think?

Another example is the Pop Warner Trophy. Some are in the infobox, some at the bottom of the page. Oh well.

Hey @Bringingthewood, there's always a concern with accolade creep. It's sometimes hard to decide where to draw the line in what awards and accomplishments are worth mentioning in the infobox, as if we allow too many then infoboxes get way too big and every sponsored award that lasts for 3-5 years ends up included.

Hi, just regarding mine and then your subsequent edit. I read the article and found some really weird and creepy stuff (some of it sounding racist) written in it, of a much worse quality than I’d ever seen on Wikipedia. Checking the talk page, there really were some genuine racists editing this page, using archaic language and referring to people as “caucasoid”, “mongoloid” and debating whether Jews should be considered white using some pretty overtly antisemitic theories, or how “purely” white celebrities are.

I’m new to Wikipedia editing so I sent an email to the one on the “contact” page, hoping something could be rectified. I got an email back telling me it’s all in the hands of volunteer editors. I thought I should do something, so I removed the parts using archaic language and referring to “mongoloid” and “caucasoid” skulls. On the very Wikipedia page for the world “mongoloid” it’s known to be a racist term for used by anthropologists 100 years ago to try and describe Asian people as being inferior, through describing their skulls as being different to European skulls and being thus inferior. 

Anyway that’s what led me to deleting that section and me replying to your message here, explaining that. I guess it just bothered me a lot when I saw racism on Wikipedia and really, I expected a higher standard from it. Just noticed that you've gone through and removed the 'Resides' line from a bunch of pro wrestler infoboxes - the edit summary for all of these, though, reads "Added NFL WikiProject tag to pages listed under Category:National Football League players by team". It caught my attention as the article I first spotted it on is about a guy who never played football. Backlog status

At the time of the last newsletter (No.27, May 2022), the backlog was approaching 16,000, having shot up rapidly from 6,000 over the prior two months. The attention the newsletter brought to the backlog sparked a flurry of activity. There was new discussion on process improvements, efforts to invite new editors to participate in NPP increased and more editors requested the NPP user right so they could help, and most importantly, the number of reviews picked up and the backlog decreased, dipping below 14,000^[a] at the end of May.

Since then, the news has not been so good. The backlog is basically flat, hovering around 14,200. I wish I could report the number of reviews done and the number of new articles added to the queue. But the available statistics we have are woefully inadequate. The only real number we have is the net queue size.^[b]

In the last 30 days, the top 100 reviewers have all made more than 16 patrols (up from 8 last month), and about 70 have averaged one review a day (up from 50 last month).

While there are more people doing more reviews, many of the ~730 with the NPP right are doing little. Most of the reviews are being done by the top 50 or 100 reviewers. They need your help. We appreciate every review done, but please aim to do one a day (on average, or 30 a month).

TIP – New school articles

Many new articles on schools are being created by new users in developing and/or non-English-speaking countries. The authors are probably not even aware of Wikipedia's projects and policy pages.

WP:WPSCH/AG

has some excellent advice and resources specifically written for these users. Reviewers could consider providing such first-time article creators with a link to it while also mentioning that not all schools pass the GNG and that elementary schools are almost certainly not notable.

Hello @ToBeFree, the information was available in the source provided. Though, now that I've read your revert of one my edits, I've come to realize that the disclaimer at the bottom of the website disqualifies it as a valid source.

The disputed text was;

The information available in the Sales Price Trends graph currently only goes back to Jan-Mar' 09, while it may have been different when originally referenced, I'll list the data for the oldest available sales data;

Average price values: Jan-Mar' 09

• Upper Range Value: Rs. 4,864 /Sq-ft
• Average Range Value: Rs. 4,631 /Sq-ft
• Lower Range Value: Rs. 4,399 /Sq-ft

Average price values: Jan-Mar' 18

• Upper Range Value: Rs. 12,177 /Sq-ft, representing a 250% increase
• Average Range Value: Rs. 9,752 /Sq-ft, representing a 211% increase
• Lower Range Value: Rs. 7,327 /Sq-ft, representing a 167% increase

I explain this not to argue with your decision, but to show that I was not making these reverts without reason.

First of all, no worries, and thank you very much for the detailed itemization. I think if this had been a purely mathematical statement, there would be no need to complain about even the use of primary sources. What bothered me is the personal interpretation of the data beyond a pure "The price of residential property in Bhowanipore has doubled in the last decade", and the lack of any justification for including the statement in the article at all. Due to inflation all over the world, for example, I guess it would be possible to create similar-looking sentences about most of the world's neighbourhoods, with these sentences having no relevance to the specific articles. An extreme example may be "The price of residential property in X has more than doubled in the last 50 years", which (not taking inflation into account) can probably be added to almost all articles. So where do we draw the line? 10 years are fine, 50 are irrelevant?

So if I understand the situation correctly, even the best primary sources can't really justify restoring such content; what we need would be a secondary reliable source reporting about how bad the situation is compared to other neighborhoods. The page, Palitana temples, is about Palitana temples, and some of them happen to relate to religions outside of Jainism. It does not harm the article to mention that there are temples with other religious associations there. In fact, many may argue it actually improves the article by mentioning additional information. Hi @Lord Milner, you should always be able to access a list of the pages you created here. To find that page you would go to "Tools" on the left hand side of the page > Special pages > User logs (under the Recent changes and logs section) > User logs. You'll now be at the public logs search. From the drop down list, select "Page creation log", enter the name of the person you want to search under the Performer field (yourself in this case), and press earch. Good morning. Can I ask for your advice / 2nd opinion regarding how to proceed with whatever is happening at Sexy Vegan. The editor actually has some genuine points about the validity of many of the sources, and that much of what the article claims about criminal convictions is demonstrably false. But they are being overly-enthusiastic with the removal of content and I can't properly vet every source and statement. Beyond that, in collaborating with them I'm at and honestly probably beyond 3RR depending on how one looks at it. They seem to want to improve the article, should I just proceed with an ANEW report? It's tough, because as you said they do seem to have a point.

You could copy and paste the article content (a previous version) into a sandbox, consider the changes the user is mentioning, vet the sources and statements, and make the changes you see fit. Then once you're finished you can update the entirety of the article without worrying about back and forth the whole way through. If they continue to remove sourced content afterwards then it could be worthy of discussion at

WP:ANEW. Currently though I'd say falls under a content dispute of which nobody is technically wrong (yet). Hey man im josh (talk

Just a head's up if you want to be tagging expiring drafts for deletion. If you live in the U.S., or another part of the world with Daylight Savings Time, you have to add an hour to the last edit on a draft that was last edited on January 14th. So, if the last edit was at 8:06 AM Jan. 14th, it will be eligible for deletion at 9:06 AM on July 14th. There are two ways to see this, you can install a gadget that shows UTC time, which is the time that governs Wikipedia (and why we need to adjust our time in the U.S.) and also, if the tagging happens too early, you can see this because the CSD tag will be bright pink and it will say that the page may not be eligible for CSD G13 because it's too soon.

Of course, this "adding an hour to the last edit" business does change. There is a small window where the time six month ago is the same as the time on the day you are doing the tagging and another long period where we deduct an hour from the time of the last edit to the draft. Once you are aware that there are differences over a course of a year in the U.S. and that Wikipedia runs on UTC time (which doesn't have Daylights Savings Time), it's not a big adjustment to make. Regrettably our criteria have a bizarre effect which means that a 'thing' which is notable should be considered as appropriate for an article, even with appalling referencing. I find it perplexing and horrible. I have no strong feelings about your draftification. I felt you ought to be prompted to research it, though. I'm a veteran of many AfDs and have had this argument used with success to keep a very poor article before.

May I suggest that deletion is often indicated rather that whooshing a bad article to Draft? There is a danger of using draftification as a sort of delayed action deletion process. The alternative is that the creating editor moved it directly back to mainspace, so we have a contested draftification. I suggest this one be left, and you do a little wider thinking for the future. You should also know that I may be incorrect, so you do need to be your own person on this.

I am much more AFC oriented than NPP, so my thoughts are wearing that hat. To me a non notable entity warrants deletion. A Borderline one may be better discussed at AfD with the community rather than a single reviewer saying yes or no, and an obviously notable but not written like that or referenced like that goes to Draft

This way neither the NPP nor the AFC backlogs are impacted. Of course the AfD backlog increases, but the work has to be done somewhere, and is usually best done once, well. However good you are and however good I am, we are servants of the wider community. A user called FishAndChipper called me bro yesterday. And when I asked them not to call me bro cos I'm a woman, they told me "bro is a gender-neutral term". WP:4RR is the better way to remember it, but I think of it as anything more than 3, then it's a violation. Technically a user can be engaged in an edit war before they reach that point, but in an edit war people often get heated, believing they are the ones who are correct and everybody else is potentially a troll or getting in their way. So, personally, I wait until the 4th edit for that reason because then they can't really dispute that they're in an edit war. Also, please take a look at WP:Indentation, it makes following discussions much easier when you indent your replies. Hey man im josh (talk

This IP editor is much more experienced with Wikipedia policies than I am, and I’m exhausted and need to go to sleep and am not able to protect the page. I saw you reverted some of the blanking, but not all of it. And the IP is still pushing after clearly targeting this page despite it being as high of a quality as any of the state-specific abortion articles, and I suspect is the same person as a previous IP and has been preparing for another push at this for a long time.
