I see that you recently put the "free software portal" tag on the Ed article. Technically this is not correct. ed was a component of UNIX which was a product of AT&T Bell Labs ... which was distributed to certain universities (such as the Computer Science Research Group, the CSRG, at Univ. California at Berkeley). However, it was not ... and is not ... free software. I suppose, by some stretch we can call ed free software today because of the Heirloom Toolchest project. It's not entirely clear to me whether the version of ed is the original (released by Caldera or SCO) or a derived work (based on sources that were released) or a re-implementation. I'm certain that the GNU version of ed (as shipped with Red Hat Linux, for example) is a re-implemention.
In any event I'm not sure that ed properly quaulifies for the free software portal category, or emblem or whatever that is. If there's a "historical topics in computing" category it would be more appropriate.
Thanks for pointing this out. I just assumed some things, and I was wrong, it seems. Sorry. — isilanes (talk|contribs) 11:03, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Basque Portal?
Kaixo, I'm contacting you because you figure in Category:User eu, meaning that you speak some
Basque Country
.
I am thinking that maybe was a good idea to create a
Wikiproject
? or both?) on the Basque theme but I feel such kind of project requires more than just one person.
If you are interested, please comment in my talk page.
Enjoy,

Appeal to Tradition
I have nothing against same-sex marriage. I just feel the inclusion of that tidbit contributes little to the article itself and is intentionally meant to inflame. 75.110.66.116
No offense meant. Just that another person had made the same deletion a mere 5 hours before, and, like you, with no comment or justification. The example has no inflamatory intention to it at all (if memory serves OK, I added it myself). On the contrary, I deem it as a highly representative example, whereas I do consider its deletion NPOV. — Isilanes 20:56, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Comparison of Windows and Linux
I clean up the discussion page regularly when a discussion has reached a point where it may be easily summarized at the top of the page. If you feel your points were not adequately covered in the summary, please feel free to put them back in, edit the summary, or tell me to put them back in. I hope that you keep helping us with the big task of making this article better, it's fun working with you on this project. Thanks

No harm done. My comments consisted mostly of a silly pun. Keep on the good job. — Isilanes 15:49, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Debian
Hi Isilanes. Were you addressing my comment on the Talk:Debian page, or the original poster? By the indentation, it looked like you were responding to me. pbryan 20:07, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry Pbryan, I was responding to the OP, not to you. I have corrected the indentation, thanks. — Isilanes 21:12, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Software Encylopedia
Hi Isilanes. It's a FREE software encyclopedia, it's relevant to the person who is searching for free software.
No. It is a "free encyclopedia" about "software", not an encyclopedia about "free software", which is the subject of the article. Moreover, in this context "free" means "free of charge" (as in "free beer"), not "embodying freedom" (as in "free speech"). Free software is all about the latter, whereas freeware would refer to the former. For both reasons, the link does not belong to the article. — Isilanes 12:16, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
