About my edit to Wat Phra Dhammakaya

Hmm. Ok, but in December 2006, the exact same images were removed for copyright violations. In fact, the discussion page of Wat Phra Dhammakaya under Philotai, you can still see the discussion on the images.Suredeath (talk) 02:47, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm kinda assuming that IF the images hosted are news clipping (which they were) and not authorized by the news agency (which there were not), it is copyright violation.Suredeath (talk) 03:28, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

The articles are published apologies from the various newspapers. Would a better solution be to translate a summary of what the content of those newspaper articles say (but in English) while giving the refs to the day and date of the newspapers in question? BTW I didn't upload those scans - but they are valid history Thanissaro (talk) 07:21, 24 March 2008 (UTC)!

Yes, it is debatable whether Thai newspapers are reliable sources (that would make an interesting Wikipedia article in itself) but in this case the articles published were required by law, so they are definitely reliable. Thanissaro (talk) 08:12, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the fix

Thanks for the fix on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Philip H. Farber (2nd nomination). I always seem to make mistakes when it's a second or third nom for an article. Cheers, Pigman 00:54, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Taxoboxes and new articles

Hi, KTC;

I'm sorry, but I didn't have a great deal of time lately to just sit down and work. I'll go through shortly and make sure that the taxoboxes and categorization of the new fossil animal articles are up to snuff. J. Spencer (talk) 22:30, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Two articles about the same man

Hallo, there are two articles about David Broome (equestrian). The main one here David Broome and the one someone started in February 2008 David Broome (disambiguation). David Broome (disambiguation) needs to be deleted, as it's the same page just shortened. Thanks - Culnacréann-(talk) 23:28, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Don't worry given the amount of info out there in English there should be enough info all around to ensure most of them are expanded beyond a stub. Once filled out they will make useful additions

Merger proposal

I have proposed a merger of the articles for the three middle schools of the Palo Alto Unified School District into the main article for the district. Discussion is here. I'm notifying everyone who was involved in the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jane Lathrop Stanford Middle School. Thanks, Darkspots (talk) 14:41, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

My RfA

Hi KTC; I wanted to say thank you for supporting my request for adminship, which passed with 100 supports, 0 opposes and 1 neutral. I wanted to get round everybody individually, even though it's considered by some to be spam (which... I suppose it is! but anyway. :)). It means a lot to me that the community has placed its trust in my ability to use the extra buttons, and I only hope I can live up to its expectations. If you need anything, or notice something that bothers you, don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks again, PeterSymonds | talk 22:22, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. Feel free to correct any future inaccuracies as well. Ral315 (talk) 07:03, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Blarg(g)

Hi KTC: Thanks for closing the RFD on Blargg. Would you like to close the RFD on Blarg with one g too, as its nomination has been withdrawn, so we can close the whole subject and remove RFD tag from that one too? Thanks! PamD (talk) 20:32, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Your edit to
RMS Titanic

Thanks for your interesting edit. I have adjusted it slightly because what you had written reflected accurately the headlines of the source story, but the headlines didn't quite reflect the quotes from Ballard himself. This was not your fault: it was just a "come-on" trick by the paper's

just wanted to mention that the whitehouse website is most likely  not copyrighted, because works created by the u.s. government are generally not protected. that having been said, there are exceptions (for example, work produced by a private contractor and licensed to the Government), and i still think you made the right decision (for NPOV reasons). 69.140.152.55 (talk) 22:15, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

My Rfa

My RFB

Thank you for your comments in my RFB. Since it was only at 64%, it was a shoo-in to be unsuccessful, so I withdrew. I didn't want it to run until its scheduled close time because my intent in standing for RFB was to help the bureaucrats with their workload, not give them one more RfX to close. Through the course of my RFB, I received some very valuable feedback, some of it was contradictary, but other points were well agreed upon. I have ceased my admin coaching for now to give me time to revamp my method. I don't want to give up coaching completely, but I'm going to find a different angle from which to approach it. As for my RFA Standards, I am going to do some deep intraspection. I wrote those standards six months ago and I will slowly retool them. This will take some time for me to really dig down and express what I want in an admin candidate. If, after some serious time of deep thought, I don't find anything to change in them, I'll leave them the way they are. I'm not going to change them just because of some community disagreement as to what they should be. Will I stand for RFB again in the future? I don't know. Perhaps some time down the road, when my tenure as an administrator is greater than one year, if there is a pressing need for more active bureaucrats, maybe. If there no pressing need, then maybe not. Useight (talk) 03:11, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

WM UK v2.0 board

Hi! Thanks for volunteering for the Wikimedia UK v2.0 board. We've made a page for candidate statements, so please add yours here, and sign the declaration (it's quite long and scary-looking, I know, but being on a board is a serious thing!). The proposed deadline for statements is 13 September, but we'll make a final deadline soon. Good luck! --Tango (talk) 02:38, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Wikimedia UK 2.0 Voting is open :-)

A warm hello to all those signed up as guarantor members of the soon-to-be-rebooted UK chapter! Voting is now open over at meta - there's tons of information online over there, and the mailing list has been very active too. Discussion, comment (and even the inevitable technical gremlins!) are most welcome at the meta pages, otherwise please do send in your vote/s, and tell a friend about the chapter too :-) Privatemusings (talk) 22:29, 20 September 2008 (UTC)I'm not actually involved in the election workings, and am just dropping these notes in to help try and spread the word :-) I welcome any or all comment too, but 'election related' stuff really is better suited to the meta pages :-)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Kylie Showgirl.jpg)

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media
).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. AfC news

Dear AfC participant,

  1. Msgj and Tnxman307 are organising the AfC challenge! It's a little competition to help improve some of the articles created through AfC and we are hoping that everyone will get involved. For level 1, you just need to bring a stub up to Start-class. Level 2 is improving a Start-class article to C-class. And so on. To get involved or for more information please see the competition page.
  2. Those of you who haven't reviewed an article recently might not have noticed the new process that was implemented this year. Reviewing articles is now more enjoyable than ever :) You might like to give it a try. All articles waiting for review are in Category:Pending Afc requests. (Please read the updated instructions.)
  3. Please consider adding {{
    AFC status
}} to your userpage to keep track of the number of articles waiting for review. At the time of writing we are officially backlogged, so help is needed!
  4. There is currently a proposal to bring the
Images for upload process under the umbrella of WikiProject Articles for creation
. The rationale is that both processes are designed to allow unregistered users to take part more fully in Wikipedia, and partipants in each process can probably help each other.

If you no longer wish to receive messages from WikiProject Articles for creation, please remove your name from this list. Thank you.

Wikimania Oxford bid

Some time ago you indicated your support of the Oxford 2010 Wikimania Bid, and it was recieved with much gratitude. I now ask if you could could help support our bid by contributing to the bid page that is located at: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2010/Bids/Oxford. Now is the critical period for work to continue on the bid as the official bidding period has now started and the jury has been formed.

I do not ask for huge swathes of time, just enough that with eveyrone working on this, it can be completed in time to the high standard required in a bid. For the bid page, an excellent source of information is the travel wiki article on the City of Oxford which is found at: http://wikitravel.org/en/Oxford. The chance of bringing Wikimania to the UK is the best so far and i expect the best chance for many years. With a fresh and stong UK chapter we have an amazing opportunity to put ourselves on the map. If you have any questions, please mail them to the Wikimedia UK mailing list, email me or post a message on my my talk page and i will answer as quickly as possible.

I look forward to working with you on the bid page. Many Thanks. Seddσn talk 15:09, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
