SUL usurpation on ro.wikipedia.org and ro.wikinews.org

Hi! Since you're a bureaucrat onromanian wikis and regarding my account rename discussed here, could you please usurp the wget on ro.wikipedia.org and ro.wikinews.org? Thanks a lot for your help. Wget (talk) 01:29, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! At ro.wikipedia you have to add a new request here because i am not a bureaucrat there. At ro.wikinews i've notified the user and we have to wait 7 days.--MSClaudiu (talk) 12:47, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi MSClaudiu,
I posted my request for Wikipedia (RO) on the 5th January, but I haven't received an answer yet. Maybe, as you can speak romanian, you could add a note after my request in order to accelerate the process.
Regarding the ro.wikinews account, the 7 days are now elapsed. ;-)
Thanks for your help! Wget (talk) 14:32, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Done at ro.wikinews.org. At Wikipedia contact one of the bureaucrats and tell them about the request.--MSClaudiu (talk) 08:17, 15 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Andra (singer)

Hello MSClaudiu,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Andra (singer) for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Karlhard (talk) 14:12, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Municipiu

In my view, your mass change of “city” to “municipiu” is a) stupid and b) arbitrary. A) because the two are not synonyms, and in plain English, the best, most natural descriptor is “city”. B) because I note you didn’t touch articles on the larger cities, even though they too have that status.

We really should rethink this. Maybe [[Municipiu|city]] as a compromise? - Biruitorul Talk 13:15, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but city is a special status. I think we should write it is [[Municipiu|municipality]] and a city in....<nowiki>. Because in Romania muncipiu is higher than the city in the classification according to the law [http://www.cdep.ro/pls/legis/legis_pck.htp_act_text?idt=28862 here in Romanian language]. I have not changed the other localities because I have to write something different like <nowiki> municipality county seat . The other are county seat or residence of a county. --MSClaudiu (talk) 08:51, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You’re getting too wrapped up in details, it seems to me.
Any reference work or news article, or ordinary speaker, is going to refer to Craiova as a city. Not a municipality, not a county seat, not a municipality and city — just city, period. Don’t take my word for it, look it up.
Likewise, anyone is going to call Făgăraș a city, not the non-existent “municipality and city”. While they will use town for Sinaia or Pecica.
And another issue: in English, municipality means any self-governing subdivision, so that translation for “municipiu” solves nothing, because every oraș and every commune is also a municipality.
I agree that every article should make clear that these places are municipii. There are two places to do that. One, the history section (“Calafat was declared a municipiu in 2001”). And two, the infobox, under “status”. I note that in many cases that links to “municipality”; the link should change to municipiu. - Biruitorul Talk 11:55, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We are talking about Romania. And in Romania municipiu is translated in english as municipality

A municipiu (from Latin municipium; English: municipality) is a level of administrative subdivision in Romania and Moldova, roughly equivalent to city in some English-speaking countries. In Romania, this status is given to towns that are quite large and urbanized; at present, there are 103 municipii.

. We need to show the way Romania is organised. Because in Romania the muncipality is divided in quarters/districts (cartiere in Romanian) and also has villages in administration like (eg Calafat has three villages Basarabi, Ciupercenii Vechi and Golenți. I don't agree with you Calafat is officialy a municipiu/municipality and you could write city but just because you want to sound good in the article. Like Tokyo is officially Tokyo Metropolis. Probably we should write something like it is one of the 103 municipii/municipalties of Romania. --MSClaudiu (talk) 07:00, 6 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
“Municipiu” can be translated as “municipality”, but the latter term has a wider meaning. If that were not the case, our article would be at
WP:NCUE
. Every municipiu, oraș and comună is a municipality, in the English sense.
Yes, we should show how Romania is organised, and we do that through articles like Municipiu, List of local administrative units of Romania, Counties of Romania, etc. We do not need to present this information in every single city article; like I said, there’s an infobox and a link for that.
Quarters and villages can be, indeed are, listed in the city articles, so that’s a non-issue.
Thankfully, how we refer to Calafat is not a matter of opinion, but dictated by policy —
WP:UCN. Granted, there aren’t a ton of English language sources that refer to the place, but the few that exist call it a city
— not a municipality.
That wording (103...) would be absurd. It would replicate a piece of trivia across 103 articles when it only belongs in one — Municipiu. The general reader is interested in knowing that Calafat or Salonta or Bârlad are cities, not in their exact status according to Romanian law. That information, as I pointed out, belongs in the infobox.
To conclude, the best, most concise and natural wording is along these lines: “X is a city in Y county, north/south/east/west/central Romania, in the historical region of Z”. Informative and to the point, without overwhelming with extraneous details. - Biruitorul Talk 11:30, 6 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
We are not talking about the title of the article we are talking about the introduction section Introductory_text. This part of cities and municipalities from Romania is not very well developed on English Wikipedia. Let's say we could say city in the beginning, but the article should mention the date it became a municipality in the Romanian way. Even more, I do not think the term municipality is a very complicated one. And yes Calafat is a stand alone city. Probably it should be something like in this article Guadalajara is the capital and largest city of the Mexican state of Jalisco, and the seat of the municipality of Guadalajara.--MSClaudiu (talk) 06:24, 8 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think we may be starting to agree. Please check this edit and see if you are fine with the general idea. - Biruitorul Talk 13:17, 8 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Maglavit Monastery

Dear User:MSClaudiu, thank you for your message on my talk page. Before the page reviewer allows moving that article from draft space to main space, he/she would probably want to see the article expanded with in-line citations added for each sentence, rather than just a general bibliography at the end. Let me know if the article is still in draft space in a couple of weeks and I will try to engage in a dialogue with others, should they oppose the move after you have expanded it. I hope this helps.
