Illustration workshop request
Please don't unarchive posts at the illustration workshop. Your request was posted for 2 months with no takers. When a request goes stale it is archived, otherwise the project page would be unmanageable. I think the biggest problem with your request is the large number of images you want done. That request is pretty demanding, you would probably have better luck if you post to get one track updated, let that one get complete, then post the next, but not all at once. Offnfopt(talk) 14:18, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
I've unarchived the single post for now, but if it sits stale for too long with no activity it will get archived again. Offnfopt(talk) 14:28, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Texas Motor Speedway, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jeff Green. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

- All I wanted to do was to add some important information to the already existing text, which in any case was very detailed. --Mark McWire (talk) 16:59, 23 September 2018 (UTC)
- My problem with your addition is that it appears to be your own core content policy. Importance is a matter of opinion, which is why we don't use that as a criterion for inclusion. SpinningSpark 18:20, 23 September 2018 (UTC)]
- There exists some background material for Quantum Slipstream in some technical books or the Fact Files. But they descripted mostly the action of the episode and do not analyse the technology itself. QSS is only another plot device and had no deeper meaning for the franchise itself. It's only mentioned in four episodes. --Mark McWire (talk) 18:36, 23 September 2018 (UTC)

- This is not an unnecessary detail. Such an explicit explanation is rarely found in science fiction, so it should be mentioned. --Mark McWire (talk) 04:42, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- According to whom? If sources have discussed it, then you can mention that, but it's not part of the plot summary at that point. Adding the details as a ref isn't appropriate because a) they're not a ref, and b) that's just a backdoor method of trying to put in more plot detail. If you disagree, you're welcome to raise the question at the article's Talk page, where other editors can offer their thoughts as well. Cheers. DonIago (talk) 17:59, 3 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Doniago I concur, see also below (this is relevant to recent edits in the space travel in science fiction, a GA, where I am afraid Mark, in good faith, is adding a bit of OR (and uses EH movie script as a source...). I started a talk discussion there as well. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 10:34, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

Point Systems Work
Hi, I appreciate your good discussions on WP:Motorsport.
More than that, though, I want to acknowledge all the work you have been putting in, compiling points systems from throughout history and around the world. Especially for the many early systems, it is hard for people to find out how they worked, and I feel that having them in one place is extremely useful.
Thank you! RegalZ8790 (talk) 02:55, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for your commendation. --Mark McWire (talk) 15:45, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
- Since you have done so much work on documenting the point-awarding systems, I presume it is something you enjoy. Perhaps you will find the following resource interesting:
- 1905 AAA National Championship Announced
- It was a very simple system for the inaugural year. There were many injuries and accidents during the season, and the thought among historians is that the bad publicity scared away the AAA - they would not attempt a second season until 1916, after which WWI put off the third season until 1920.
