Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Mervyndymally.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to
    di-replaceable fair use disputed
}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before

13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Calliopejen1 (talk

Members of the California State Legislature

There is a mistake. It has Jack Scott going 6 years in the Assembly and Carol Liu going 4 years in the Assembly while it is actually vice versa. Every time I try to fix it, I end up screwing up the chart entirely, you seem to be a frequent updater of the chart, could you possibly fix it. Its bugging me!! Thank you!! Have a good day! Capoliticswatcher (talk) 07:38, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

I've fixed it. Thanks for letting me know! OCNative (talk) 04:13, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Tenure of service

This is very well done, but I have a question. Should the background colour for the senators be different? I can hardly differenciate it from the grey of the background. I have a weakness in seeing colour though, so that could be the reason. Perhaps consider? Hekerui (talk
) 14:56, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

I just wanted to second that; it really is very well done indeed. I've made a couple of changes which I hope you'll agree have served to improve it – let me know if you disagree with any of them.
Thanks for all your improvements to
California Legislative LGBT Caucus – I think we've managed to make it a pretty decent article. — Lincolnite (talk
) 23:21, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
Hi, Hekerui, I was trying to use the red and green colors since those are the colors of the Senate and Assembly, but I think Lincolnite's inserting the word Assembly and Senate solves the problem. Thanks for pointing that out; I'll be more careful about that in future charts. OCNative (talk) 02:36, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
Hi, Lincolnite, thank you for your improvements to my chart. Your changes provide more information, make the table more uniform in spacing, and fix the color issue (by including the words Assembly and Senate under the legislator's name) that Hekerui pointed out. First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject).

I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.

If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!

If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.

Thank you and I hope to see you there!

Editing style

[moved here from an article talk page]
Please also note that you rarely use edit summaries, and you frequently mark substantive edits as 'minor'. That's not the path to success here. Wasted Time R (talk) 11:23, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Also, if you wish to criticize my editing in a general sense, I would appreciate if you would do so on my
talk page, rather than an article talk page. While I do not always use edit summaries, I would say "rarely" is an inaccurate statement. On occasion, I have accidentally marked an edit as "minor" that should not have been, but I would hardly call it "frequent". I've been editing here for more than four years without any major problems, so I'm not particularly worried about endangering my "path to success here." OCNative (talk
) 05:42, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
Looking at your last 500 edits, you seem to use edit summaries about 20% of the time. That's what I meant by "rare". The recommended level per
WP:FILLINEDITSUMMARY is 100%. For some examples of recent 'minor' edits that changed substance, see here and here and here and here and here and here and here and so forth. Wasted Time R (talk
) 11:22, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

This being said, I have no desire to inject drama where it need not occur, so I'll retract my remark about "path to success here." Wasted Time R (talk) 11:53, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

As a separate matter, your desire to have autoformatted dates in articles is swimming upstream at this point. Many editors are removing them from articles on an individual basis, pointing to

MOS:UNLINKDATES. If you want to keep them in a particular article, you should probably put a comment at the top saying "This article deliberately uses autoformatted dates, please don't change" or something like that. I personally have been removing them, but will be happy to honor such a request if it occurs. On the article in question, I've added in some additional autoformatting that you missed on your run-through. Wasted Time R (talk
) 11:53, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

File:ThomasKuchel.jpg needs authorship information.

Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:ThomasKuchel.jpg is missing information as to it's authorship, or if such information is provided it is confusing.

If possible, please add or clarify this information. This will help other editors to make better use of the image, and it will be more informative for readers.

When adding authorship information to self published work please do NOT use describers such as 'I made this', 'own-work' , 'self-made' or personal names, without making your user name explicit.

This is so that media can be more accurately traced, if it is transferred to Wikimedia Commons.

If you have any questions please see

This list is more comprehensive: http://www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/government-holding/ Under your world, I guess we should confine ourselves to separate countries rather than recognizing that Wikipedia is a global encyclopedia and that in the Internet era, it's actually possible to learn of information across national borders. Furthermore, since there is an 8-hour time difference, I was able to watch the live streaming video of BBC while most Britons were asleep, and by the time I went to sleep, British Wikipedia editors could take over. Of course, you a person of a mere 9 edits would not understand the collaborative nature of Wikipedia and would make the snarky comments above. OCNative (talk) 17:58, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
