Significance of Plato quotation
I have a question about something you added to
- Thanks. My reply here. --Odysses (○) 20:09, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks. The original of course does not have all the words or in that order, instead τὸν θεὸν ἀεὶ γεωμετρεῖν or [ἀεὶ] γεωμετρεῖν τὸν θεὸν.[1] I wonder if there is a way to note this on the article without going off on a long tangent. I ask because someone on Talk:Plato has pushed the idea that this phrase is Plato's and that it reveals something about Plato's gematria; I found some pages to the similar effect on the Internet. Do you have any ideas? RJC TalkContribs 22:45, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
Hello, just wanted to tell you that the epithet "white-armed", which you placed on the Individuals list as belonging to Hera and Nausicaa, is already on the General list, since it belongs to several different people. I'm going to remove the epithet from the Individuals list, unless you think that it is clearer to tell which women the epithet applies to. Personally I value conciseness more in this case, since the list would become incredibly long if common epithets were listed under multiple people. — Eru·tuon 16:19, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

You note in your edit summary "per talk", but the talk page consensus seems firmly against inclusion. Did you perhaps misread this, as it is spread over two sections? --
Italics in Greek characters
Hello. I just wanted to inform you about Wikipedia's stylistic conventions against the use of italics in Greek characters. Italics are not necessary in the case of non-Latin characters; the difference with "normal Latin text" is obvious.

Confusion over Plutarch bust image
Could you chime in at Talk:Plutarch if you get a chance? There is speculation about what kind of information/source backs up the identification of the image you contributed. Cheers, Wareh (talk) 18:24, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Peloponnese vs West Greece
Hi Odysses, thank you for adding the Numismatic museum in the list. About Achaea, although geographically it is part of Pelopnnese, its article states clearly that it is part of the "region" of West Greece, which is why I had placed it there. I have done all the classification of the list based on these administrative "regions", so I'm not sure if this move is in line with the rest. Hoverfish Talk 03:31, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Atlas (mythology), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hyades. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Refugees of Syrian Civil War
Hi, The page
Ignore the previous comment. I have used both references, update the arrivals to Feb 2016, and recalculated the estimated applicants (its over 33,500+ now) Robert Brukner (talk) 19:41, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks. I used data from UNHCR for my edit. According to them there is a total of 856,723 arrivals by sea in 2015 out of which Syrians represent 44% = 376,958 arrivals. Only 8% of arrivals applied for asylum, and assuming that Syrians applied at the same proportion 8%, we get 376,958 x 0.08 = 30,156 Syrian applicants approximately.--Odysses (☏) 23:04, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
Syrian Refugees and Greece
Hi, Do you have a source for the actual numbers of refugees now currently in Greece? I've seen numbers for arrivals and estimates of asylum applications. But I've never seen estimates for departures. How many Syrian refugees are actually inside the country at any one moment? Robert Brukner (talk) 20:36, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
Protesilaus and Odysseus in Troy
Hi,
On 12 March 2006, you edited the Odysseus page (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Odysseus&diff=43416188&oldid=43412997) to include a story about Odysseus jumping on his shield when he first arrived at Troy: "When the Achaean ships reached the shores of Troy, none would jump ashore, since there was an oracle that the first Achaean to jump on Trojan soil would die. Odysseus tossed his shield on the shore and jumped on his shield. He was followed by Protesilaus who jumped on Trojan soil and he was the first to die."
I've been searching for a source for this story for hours, and can't find one. Could you please let me know where this story comes from?
