USD isn't always Currency

If you don't want to validate changes, then please don't use automated tools!

In this situation, it's obvious that USD doesn't mean currency.

This kind of editing is disruptive. Everyone makes mistakes, but this kind of serial mistake making and seemingly inattentiveness to others' concerns could warrant posting to

Review

Hello @Onel5969 I need your help please review this articles called Grace Iradukunda and Auddy Kelly both are totally from reliable and from verified sources but this pages are not yet reviewed. Pfomma (talk) 11:32, 10 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi. I'm sorry, I no longer review articles about entertainment personalities from Africa. Sources are quite difficult to ascertain reliability. Onel5969 TT me 12:12, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

Samarth Jurel

Hello, I created a Wikipedia article directly like almost a week ago, but it hasn't appeared on Google yet. Can you kindly explain the reason behind it? The page that I've created is Samarth Jurel.

--Princessruby (talk) 22:03, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi. When an article is created, it gets put in a queue for review. There are over 8000 articles in the queue, and sometimes it can take quite a long time for the article to be reviewed (months). WP makes reviewing extremely difficult and unpleasant to do, so there is always going to be a backlog. That being said, I took a look, and your article was reviewed a couple of days ago. Congratulations and keep up the good work. Onel5969 TT me 12:15, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

Thanks you.

If you ears were burning recently it's because I was saying on Discord that New Page Greeter @Onel5969 is part of the reason I got back into editing. Thanks so much for all your guidance and valuable commentary-by-tag over the years. Best, jengod (talk) 02:04, 16 February 2024 (UTC)

Lifeboat Numbers

Please stop fixing lifeboat numbers. They don't have endash They're recorded as they are on the boat by the RNLI, 12-22 or 13-35 etc

MartinOjsyork (talk) 15:50, 20 February 2024 (UTC) ps: Couldn't work out why you missed 13-35, and then I realise, I think Wiki is seeing 12-22 as a date.

Thanks for letting me know. Will take that into account in the future. Onel5969 TT me 16:46, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

I don't think that the nominator notified you, so I'm just giving you a heads-up, in case you've got something to add to that discussion. Take care Toughpigs (talk) 22:49, 21 February 2024 (UTC)

Question re: redirects and reviewing

Hi Onel, quick question for you re: NPP and redirects if you have a moment. I recently redirected two new articles I saw on NPP [1], and [2]. I also marked them both as reviewed. Is it ok for me to do both procedures on the same article? If so, is there a preferred order for the two actions? You seem like a great person to get advice from, I've learned alot from your edits, thank you! Netherzone (talk) 01:08, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

Hello. Yes, it's perfectly ok for you to redirect an article and then mark the redirect as reviewed. I wouldn't mark the article as reviewed and then redirect it, however, cause that could give the impression that you reviewed the article, and found it okay, so why then did you redirect it? Make sense? Onel5969 TT me 09:33, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
Thanks so much! Netherzone (talk) 12:36, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi. I just wanted to draw your attention to the fact that you seem to be replacing "Ottomans" with "Ottoman Turks", when in some case (I haven't checked all of them), Ottoman Caliphate would be more appropriate. Best, M.Bitton (talk) M.Bitton (talk) 20:38, 25 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for that. Could you link to an example. I found that it was either Ottoman Turks or Ottoman Empire. And mostly the former.Onel5969 TT me 21:01, 25 February 2024 (UTC)

Ottomans

Hey. You seem to be defaulting to replacing links to Ottomans with Ottoman Turks. Is this an automated conversion to the previous presumed primary topic? In all the examples I looked at so far, the Empire was what was meant instead. --Joy (talk) 21:59, 25 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi. It's difficult to ascertain. See me response above. It's why I stopped. Most of the links I looked at it appeared to be either the Turks or the Empire. Several were clearly the latter, while many were clearly the former. However, most appeared to me to be ambiguous, and in those cases, I almost always default to where the original redirect was targeted, AGF'ing on the part of the prior editors who put the link there. Onel5969 TT me 22:51, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
Maybe it's just too subtle. In a lot of the historical stories about the Ottoman wars in Europe, the use of the plural is like a lazy reference to them, similar to how people would say "Turks" in the same vein, but nothing specific about the people is meant, just "invaders", which is best associated with the empire. --Joy (talk) 23:25, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
You are most likely correct. Beyond my level of discernment, obviously. Onel5969 TT me 01:29, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
No worries. I was aware this ambiguity was problematic when I filed the RFD :) --Joy (talk) 09:24, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

A well-meaning editor has put a notification on my article that it was written by adam murray, my son. I thought you put the notification on and it was removed. I have not touched the article in any major way since then. Now the notification is on again. Could you remove the notice again? Thank you, Joan arden murray (talk) 18:46, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
