Lifeboat Numbers

Please will you stop amending Lifeboat Numbers. They are recorded as they are on the lifeboat. They do not have en dash (I think Wiki sees this as a date, but its a number.) Many thanks MartinOjsyork (talk) 11:28, 1 March 2024 (UTC)

Please could you provide an example. That way I can see exactly what I did incorrectly. Thanks. Onel5969 TT me 12:03, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
Hi
Can't reproduce the box, but these are two lifeboat references.
Boat with official number 1117, has operational number 47-014,
but you didn't change that.
Boat with official number 1288, has operational number 16-08
which you changed to 16–08.
This seems to happen regularly with this type of number, and I think its because Wiki is flagging it as a Date or date range???
Hope that makes things a bit more clear. Apologies for all my other errors, I'm good at too many Capitals, and I don't have an endash key on my keyboard of course. To hard to keep doing alt 0150 etc, so I type hyphens, and then usually just forget to change them.
Either way, these are hyphens and not endash

Thanks. I was simply looking for you to supply a link to the edit I made, that way I could see how I missed it. I understand your point about the lifeboat numbers, and yes, the AWB tool does mistakenly see that as a number range. Will attempt to catch these in the future. We only just discussed this, and then you've just done Thurso!
Its been reverted.

Thank you. That's why I wanted an example. When I'm editing, they look like page numbers, will be on the lookout now. Onel5969 TT me 16:28, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

Draft article

Hello,

I have noticed that you won 2018,2022 new page reviewer of the year. I have created an article about Yousef Abo Zarad and you have already checked it without deleting anything but now another editor have moved the article to draft. I would be glad if you could help me understand my mistake since you found it good to be on wikipedia.

Thank you ElisaBM (talk) 16:07, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

Dear Editor:

Another article for you to kindly check. Thanks very much. Joan arden murray (talk) 17:55, 6 March 2024 (UTC)

What can I say. Please stop! MartinOjsyork (talk) 11:43, 7 March 2024 (UTC)

Help needed

Hey man can you tell how can i add a category and link this page , it would be good if you tell me the steps InfoHistoric23 (talk) 13:11, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

You would need to let me know which page you were talking about. Onel5969 TT me 17:52, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

Added Category Tags and Linked to other articles

I have added Category tags and link the article to other articles so it's no longer an uncategorised or Orphan article so i removed tags InfoHistoric23 (talk) 13:47, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

Can you please review this article again?

I edited this page while you were cleaning it up, causing an edit conflict (which I did resolve but just to make sure it's fine now). Also, I moved the page to a different title due to misspelling. Excellenc1 (talk) 10:11, 11 March 2024 (UTC)

Sorry about the confusion. Yes, it looks fine. Onel5969 TT me 11:34, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for checking. Excellenc1 (talk) 12:10, 11 March 2024 (UTC)

Could you also look at this one? Joan arden murray (talk) 20:30, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

Thank you!

Added a link

Namaste! Just checked that you have cleaned up Vinitha and added an orphan tag to it. First of all, I would like to thank you for cleaning up the article. I have added a link to it from a related article. So, I kindly request you to have a look into it and maybe remove the orphan tag? IDK how these things work as I am still learning. :) Thanks again. Looking forward for an update and maybe a digital space where I can catch up to learn more from you :) Theshubhz (talk) 12:07, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

Tag removed. But you don't have to ask permission to remove a tag like that. Once the issue has been corrected, you can simply remove the tag. Onel5969 TT me 14:29, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
Thank you so much for your help. :) Could you please help me with one more thing? I am actually looking for a direct way to add photo to wikipedia. In previous pages, I added the photo through Flickr (CC0) but now it's not allowing new registrations.
So, like what's the best way of adding a photograph to a wiki page without getting the file deleted? Theshubhz (talk) 06:22, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
Well, there are two main ways to add images, either through Wikimedia Commons or through Wikipedia itself. If the file is in the public domain, that's easiest, and can be done through commons. A good guide is Wikipedia:Uploading images. Also, help in dtermining what is free and non-free is Wikipedia:Non-free content. Hope this helps. Onel5969 TT me 08:19, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
Thank you so much sir for your help. Theshubhz (talk) 14:47, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
Sorry for interrupting you once once again! I hope this interruption finds you well. But I think the best way to learn something is through inquiry, so here I am, seeking clarification.
So, I wanted enhance the page by adding a picture of Vinitha. My approach was to reach out to the author, requesting permission to feature a photograph with proper accreditation, inspired by a similar practice observed on Anita Nair's page. However, to my dismay, it appears this method may not align with best practices. (Please refer to File:Vinitha.jpg for context.) To address this, I've taken the initiative to request that the author instruct their photographer to send formal consent via email. Hopefully, this will rectify the situation satisfactorily.
On a related note, I seek guidance regarding the usage of photographs from external sources, such as news websites or blogs, for Wikipedia. For instance, would it be acceptable to utilize an image sourced from a website like http://www.saffrontree.org/2015/11/in-land-of-stick-figures.html, even in the absence of explicit Creative Commons licensing?
Your insights on these matters would be immensely valuable. Thank you for your time and consideration. Theshubhz (talk) 18:15, 21 March 2024 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:U.S.VoteFoundationLogo.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:U.S.VoteFoundationLogo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:37, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

Are We Dating The Same Guy?

Hi! I was discussing with a friend and this particular facebook group popped up in our conversation. While researching about the group, I found its wiki page to be particularly one-sided (as have been mentioned by even other users on the talk page). So, I set out to work crosschecking references to make sure that the information in place were legit and while as already stated, the language used was one-sided, I also found that in at least two instances, information from the references themselves were not used to create the complete picture/ context of some points. I tried to correct this but it was quickly reverted by another editor who I should add, may have something against the subject matter. As a woman in a hostile world, I am tired of seeing female spaces derided and if this particular space must have a page on Wiki, it should at least tell the whole story and give credit to where its due. Naslilx (talk) Naslilx (talk) 10:56, 18 March 2024 (UTC)

Okay, so when I saw your heading my first thought was, "Well I certainly hope not, since my wife would be very upset with me." Then I read the body of your message and realized you were talking about the wikipage on the subject. I took a look at the article, and the talk page, particularly your exchange with Panamitsu. I understand your viewpoint, but the best way to go about making the page more neutral is to check the sourcing and make sure the article's content accurately reflects the source. In your exchange with Panamitsu, they point out what they see as the inconsistency in your edit. I would suggest continuing the conversation on the page and reaching a consensus. And remember that if you stick to reliable sources, you can't go wrong. Onel5969 TT me 11:32, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
Thanks!

Thenk you very much!!
Thank you very much for correcting the mistake I made in the date notation on Hankyu 5000 series. Since I was Japan, I inadvertently misspelled it. Please try Daifuku, one of the snacks in my home country of Japan. H.K.pauw (talk) 11:11, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
You are welcome. And I love Daifuku. My daughter lived in Japan for 6 years, in Hokkaido (about an hour outside of Sapporo) for 2 years, and then in Tokyo for 4. She was actually a member of the Tokyo International Players, and my wife and I went over and surprised her when she had the lead in one of their plays. Lovely country. Knafeh

Hi @Onel5969, there’s been too much vandalism on the Knafeh page. The user “Ahmed Mahboub” and “أحمد محبوب” who, by the way, are the same people (since the two names are translations in Arabic and English) are adding terrible grammar, punctuation, and unsourced claims throughout the article. Could you please protect the page? I’m quite knew to Wikipedia so I don’t know how to do it, but all my edits have been constructive and sourced. IsThisNotATing (talk) 19:53, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

Continued disruption on Knafeh article

Hi @Onel5969, thanks for protecting the page. However, the disruptions are still continuing. It’s the same accounts again (same person). They are ruining the article with terrible grammar (it’s clear they don’t understand English properly), and they are adding unsourced statements throughout. My suggestion is that they be blocked, because they aren’t contributing anything positive to Wikipedia. IsThisNotATing (talk) 04:39, 31 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Onel5969 the vandalist (أحمد محبوب and Ahmed Mahboub) reverted your edit and is still edit warring. I really suggest they be blocked because this has been going on for too long now. IsThisNotATing (talk) 15:01, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
