I believe you'll have to be more specific than that. I don't see how my edits could be interpreted as "vandalism". Edit: I looked into this particular case about those instances of vandalism you're referring to, and I can assure you I have nothing to do with them. Lithuanian monarchy category

Hi, I noticed that you are adding biographical articles of Lithuanian monarchs to the category "Lithuanian monarchy". Don't you think that better solution would be to add category "Category:Lithuanian monarchs" to category "Lithuanian monarchy", since it already consists all the biographies? Marcelus (talk) 14:23, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I see, I will take out articles from "Lithuanian monarchy" relating to monarchs. The issue is that, following the analogical examples of articles about other countries, the title "Lithuanian monarchs" is not as broad to include institutional articles as well. Either "Lithuanian monarchs" should be renamed to "Lithuanian monarchy", thus making it broader or we should keep them separate, but the red line is not exactly clear here. --SeriousThinker (talk) 14:59, 14 March 2022 (BST) SeriousThinker (talk) 15:14, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I absolutely believe that both categories should exist. Only the category "Lithuanian monarchs" should be a sub-category of the category "Lithuanian monarchy". And biographies should be in the "Lithuanian monarchs" category, it just seems logical to me. Marcelus (talk) 16:46, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

List of rulers of Lithuania

Don't you think the rulers listed should have names in the form generally accepted on Wikipedia? I.e. Casimir IV Jagiellon and not Kazimieras Jogailaitis? We should use the forms that are accepted in English literature Marcelus (talk) 23:22, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Generally your edits are good, but you unfortunately misjudged with the article

talk) 18:59, 16 November 2023 (UTC)[reply

I actually did present reasoning when I did the move this article, it's in the history view. It simply makes zero sense to me referring to one ethnographic region in its Latin form (Samogitia) and then referring to the other one in Lithuanian (Aukštaitija). I'm not sure why that should be the case — both Samogitia or Samethia and Austechia appear to be historical names but one of them is no longer suitable? Also, it should be noted that Austechia was the actually the origin title of this article when it was first created, but then somebody decided to change it at some point. SeriousThinker (talk) 11:08, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Austechia is not similar to Samogitia due to the latter being a far more frequently used word for the region in English-language literature than the former. Even Endre Bojtar refers to the region in his book primarily with its Lithuanian name Aukštaitija and not Austechia, which he only mentions in passing.
talk) 13:38, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply
]
I am aware that Aukštaitija is quite a frequently use term, that's why I kept it next to Austechia. I figured that Austechia could be more acceptable to English-speaking audiences as it is more easy to pronounce and has no special characters, but I do see your point. In that case, we can leave it at that. SeriousThinker (talk) 14:02, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into East Baltic languages. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is

"Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge.
