my RFA

Hi Silversmith, thank you for your vote of confidence on my recent successful RFA, it was much appreciated. I will work to demonstrate that your trust was well-placed. Fawcett5 19:38, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your support

Thank you for voting on my RFA. Have some pie! I was pleasantly surprised by the sheer number of supporters (including several people that usually disagree with my opinion). I shall do my best with the proverbial mop. Yours, Radiant_>|< 08:01, Jun 8, 2005 (UTC)

Lone wolf terrorist/odd behaviour of history

I agree with your assessment, and I've moved the detail to

Independent terrorist actor. Regarding the history strangeness, I've noticed that a lot; I edit a page, and the previous edit disappears from history. I find that if I wait a few minutes (10-20) the history usually fixes itself. The other day I moved a page, and the whole history disappeared for at least 1/2 hour, which was scary. And if you want to see something really strange, look at the history of Talk:Germany;[1] no matter what you do, the May 10 edit by Heimdal is always the second last edit. I think it all has to do with the load on the network of machines storing and synchronizing this information; one day they'll sort it all out (I hope). Cheers. Jayjg (talk)

Theo RFA

Hi Erin: Thank you for supporting my RFA. It is particularly pleasing to be supported by someone that I admire. --Theo (Talk) 14:14, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thank you

Hi Silversmith, I know this is kind of overdue, but I want to thank you for your support vote on my RFA. Thanks to you and everyone else who voted support, I am now an admin, and I have been using my powers to further Wikipedia. Thank you for granting me this opportunity! thank you from uwe

hallo Erin - thank you for promoting my most beloved magic critter. I like your userpage a lot (and your contributions) - finally someone with a real name and a face - you seem to be a very interesting person, if I would still be young I would visit your. Could you maybe get some text and images of krill to the Spain namespace, just a little would be a fine starter - good luck to you (I did some silverwork too) - Uwe Kils 15:09, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)

Hi

First things, thanks for the note on the camellia flower. Yeah I'm sorry about the double ups on the images - but someone not long ago asked me to upload my photos to the commons so that everyone could easily access them, and I started doing just that and didn't think to replace the old en.wikipedia ones. I'll send you my email, but first you have to send my yours - the link you gave doesn't work for me. --Fir0002 10:03, Jun 19, 2005 (UTC)

Support template

Hi Erin: I saw your new Support template and think it very attractive. Sadly, however, I feel that it is another step in a trend to make RFA a quasi-democratic vote. As things stand we claim that the process is about consensus building. This was entirely true when the process first began: as an online discussion. Then someone decided that it would be clearer if support, oppose, and comment were separated. This reduced the sense of debate and increased the sense of tallying; an impression that was further increased by the introduction of the tally summary (and, briefly, tally boxes). Consensus is the heart of wiki and enough people already conflate this with voting and with polling. Your lovely symbol only increases the sense of putting a cross on a ballot paper. Please reconsider its use.—Theo (Talk) 14:33, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

You really are the most extraordinarily pleasant person. Thank you for your tolerance.—Theo (Talk) 15:55, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for supporting me on my RfA. It's always nice to get some positive feedback. I hope I can put my new abilities to some good use. -- grm_wnr Esc 17:44, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

response from London

Uwe wants to share this with you (from his talk page):

Hello Kils

Just would like to state that i have very much enjoyed being involved in a project of this nature. To see the speed of co-operation between various people was (Uwe, Lupo and Salleman and all others) fantastic. It was a complete buzz to go off researching about a scientific subject and coming to some understanding and appreciation of a creature that i would have no knowledge or interest in otherwise. I would like to say that it takes a damn good teacher to get others interested in what they teach and i for one, if only in a rudimentary and general way have found the subject of Krill and sorrounding issues of ecology and environment fascinating. I think that says a lot about your willingness to let others participate in something which you obviously have great knowledge in and could easily have been a lot less humble with. At some point i will put up some informtion on my home page so at least people know a little more about me. Am going to try to extend the article on Ice-algae so any info you may have would be good. I hope the article on Antartic Krill gets featured as i think it is now very good.

Wikiversity sounds like a good idea but will need more time to go through the proposal (not too sure what help i could be).

Once again thanks Uwe! Yakuzai 22:50, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)

South Australian English

Please read the talk page and comment before making such a unilateral change. The fact that it causes so much discussion suggests there is a need for an article, if only to debunk the myths retold on the talk page (and elsewhere on the internet). If you do not comment on the talk page I will assume I have your approval to revert. Thanks.Grant65 (Talk) 10:34, Jun 21, 2005 (UTC)

Featured picture candidate African daisy

You state that this Osteospermum fruticosum. But in my opinion, this is a cultivar Osteospermum 'Pink Whirls'. This cultivar has pinkish-purple flowers with 'spooned' petals; reverse is purple to lavender-blue; disk is blue. See this site [[3] (http://www.mediterraneangardensociety.org/plants/Osteospermum.cultivars.html)]. I happen to have this plant in my garden. I'll make a few photos and I'll upload them in the Commons. In case you want to write the article, there is already an article (actually a stub) on Osteospermum, dealing with Osteospermum fruticosum. Osteospermum should have its own article (cultivars included), while African marigold (O. fruticosum) should be separated into its own article. Do you agree ? JoJan 15:22, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)

No need any more to write an article on Osteospermum. I've made start, added the FP and I'll finish it in the next few days, after I've done some extra research. JoJan 08:18, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hi

You wrote "Hi, I just noticed we are the same lovely shade of silver. Nice to meet you" -- I have been changing colors and styles every couple of weeks as I experiment with the codes. Thanks for the welcome. NoSeptember 12:28, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Commons:

  1. I've seen you around FPC, so you're not new to me. :). In Commons, nominations are usually self-nominations and lack the long debates as it goes on here. It laid-back.
  2. Anyone can vote for you.
  3. The criteria for admin status is 1) a min of 100 edits in commons 2) Two months of contrib to any wiki 3) A user page in commons
  4. You need a min of 4 votes and a 75% majority to gain admin status in commons.

Hope this was useful. =Nichalp «Talk»= 14:49, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)

Hi Erin: I am on my way to Commons now.—Theo (Talk) 21:19, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I've put together a little poll at Talk:Terrorism regarding the "lone wolf" section. Your input would be appreciated. Thx. Jayjg (talk) 19:48, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

ack

hewwo to you too. Thanks for the friendly reminder and, more importantly, thanks for changing your vote. As you will have seen with a few months ago with boyfwiend, the RfA process has became inretrievably politicized, and that is a real shame. I am glad I don't have to go through it now; god knows what would crawl out of the woodwork to complain about some ill-chosen word on an obscure talk page. Anyway, BYT deserves another chance over a few months, as does your young lizard friend. -- Viajero | Talk 15:17, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Commons:Administrators RFA

Hi Erin,

I suspect you might be away travelling at the moment, but if not can you take a look at Commons:Commons:Administrators. The voting there appears to be almost inactive, and given that the window for nominations is 7 days, it could probably benefit from a little more attention. -- Solipsist 06:46, 27 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hiya

To repost from the pics' site: Awww, pretty! No doubt you'll be able to support the two of you in France by being a body double for Audrey Tautou (unless she gave up and moved to Hollywood...) In any case, I was curious if you had any advice or sources for working in iron - I'd like to make a blackened cast iron ring with gold inlay. Apparently there are ways to darken silver, too - is that the easier and more practical choice? Thanks - Jowfair 7 August 2005
