I am trying to make sure I stay within the objective "just the facts" guidelines for Wiki - but it is more than a little apparent that feelings sometimes run high on a few topics. The wiki article on the Kitzmiller trial in Dover being my most recent encounter of this aspect here on Wiki.

I spent some time looking for what sources for Walter Veith and was surprised by the huge number of hits, combined with the total lack of "obviously reputable secondary" sources. He is obviously a polarizing figure within Adventist circles, but hasn't captured the attention of a wider audience. I have certainly seen far less well sourced (even completely unsourced) articles survive, which makes me wonder if Veith being targeted by someone who just doesn't like him. The article itself does not show any of the criticism being poured by so many of the sources. It also appears to be a coathanger for various SDA topics. This discussion has the feel of a family fight! I will continue to look into this, but since I don't have knowledge of nor passion for the subject matter, I'm not likely to be of much help with editing.

Hi Simbagraphix. After skimming through both articles, I would say that they suffer from a common weakness--lack of third-party mainstream references. In the past, I had a couple of Adventist-related articles that met the same fate. I had third-party references but they were not mainstream. There would have been many other Wikipedia articles about Adventist/Adventist-related organizations/personalities that I would have written had I not encountered the same roadblock. I am just short of generalizing that, in most cases, this problem may be due to the failure of the Adventist church or its related organizations to involve third-party mainstream media when they have noteworthy and not-so-noteworthy events. Maybe they feel they don't need "outside" coverage because they already have the Adventist News Network. Or maybe because Adventists (most of the ones I know) are generally expected not to draw attention to themselves, hence the avoidance of publicity--and mainstream news media coverage is a form of publicity. I guess, you cannot do anything about this lack of references, except, if you are in the position to, inform the parties concerned of the necessity to have mainstream media coverage as the lack of such coverage indicates the non-noteworthiness of such an entity.

Another issue I would like to point out is the difference between fact and belief. When you write an article about Adventists, you have to write it from the viewpoint of a non-Adventist, in fairness to those who are not members of that particular organization. For example, the statement "It promotes the view that Roman Catholicism works behind the scenes with Jesuits, Freemasons and the Illuminati to establish itself as the dominant church of the world" would be considered a conspiracy theory among non-Adventists, but would be "factual" among certain groups in the Adventist church. If you rewrote that statement as: "It promotes certain views considered to be conspiracy theories" you would have lesser opposition to your article. I know you would not like Walter Veith or Amazing Discoveries to be classified under

So what can be done to remedy the said articles? For the Amazing Discoveries article, I would suggest that you check the Amazing Facts article and take note of its non-confrontational, non-argumentative, non-promotional nature. Also note the focus on the ministry and not on the backgrounds of the evangelists/speakers, as you have done in the History section of the Amazing Discoveries article. Also compare your Veith article with the Doug Batchelor article. Notice that Batchelor's beliefs are not specified, thus eliminating the issue of whether he should be classified as a conspiracy theorist or not. Hope this helps. I removed the cut and pastes from the Mark VII and Mark VIII articles because 1) the article scope was the Mark I to Mark V and duplication from the other articles is not necessary, 2) they weren't correctly attributed. There is a process to follow when material is copied between articles particularly in the case of substantial portions of text (Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia). It seems you may be confusing different interpretations of the '70 weeks'. In the interpretation being discussed in the paragraph you edited, the actual view is that the 70th week is separated from the first 69 weeks by a protracted period of time. Your presentation as if these are separate views held by a subset of adherents to that interpretation is a misrepresentation of that belief. Do not change it back without further discussion at the article's Talk page. After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.

The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora.
