Hi

I can create the stub for this unless you already know of someone working on it.

Good work on the article, especially considering how quickly you brought it to GAN. Tezero (talk) 03:20, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Dizzy and the fearsome blob of lard

Hello! Thank you for your rating and comments over at Magicland Dizzy. I've been meaning to drop you a message for a while now as it was your excellent work on Seymour Goes To Hollywood that prompted me to check out the state of the Dizzy articles on Wikipedia (both great memories from my days owning a ZX Spectrum). I was just wondering whether you might have anything to add to the Magicland Dizzy article that would help move it towards GA? I can't find sources that really discuss the development (besides the Oliver Twins own website) so that is definitely an area for improvement. Are there any other particular tweaks you had in mind as I would like to give it that final push up to GA? I'll probably take a look at Fantasy World Dizzy next though all of the Dizzy game articles are in a fairly dire state! Cheers. Nick Ottery (talk) 08:50, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi Nick, I'm a little pressed for time ATM but I would like to have a good dig around for sources and discuss the article when that changes. The GamesTM source I used for Seymour's development section may be of some use, since the developer Big Red Software was responsible for Magicland Dizzy and that experience resulted in them creating what was supposed to be a new Dizzy game. I have another article covering all the Dizzy games around here somewhere (in an issue of Retro Gamer IIRC) which may or may not be helpful. There are some places where magazine scans are stored which you may not be aware of as well. When I've had a chance to look through these things I'll drop you a note, though I'm not sure when that will be. Thanks for getting in touch. Someoneanother 15:44, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
The issue of RG might help a bit.
  • Crookes, David (2007). "Company Profile: Big Red Software". Retro Gamer (42). Imagine Publishing: 76–81.
I remembered the article once I saw Seymour Goes to Hollywood at GAN and found it in my mags. It only has snippets on a handful of Dizzy games. Not a lot, but still useful I'm sure. (Guyinblack25 talk 16:02, 22 June 2010 (UTC))
Thanks for that GiB, and for your excellent improvements on the Seymour article. I think there is a more modern piece around somewhere (it might even be in the retro section of a GamesTM magazine, I've got a subscription to both mags). In the meantime there is at least one magazine article which can be of use, I'll let Nick know. Someoneanother 17:16, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for all the feedback guys! I've just started to go through the points raised. I thought it would be good to place all the feedback on the article talk page to centralise relevant discussion. I hope you don't mind me copying over your excellent comments across from my talk page Someoneanother. They are now on the article's talk page in a summary form. Not at all, I'd be glad to have been of any help whatsoever. Someoneanother 19:20, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Geneforge and others lead

Hey! I tweaked the lead for the GF2 article you are currently expanding. For a second opinion, do you think this lead is suitable:

Geneforge 2 is the second
Macintosh and Windows
platforms in 2003.

I think it addresses all the major point "video game", "Geneforge series", "RPG", "demo/shareware", "Mac/PC", "year". May be also link

Heya :) excellent idea, would you like to do the honours or leave it to me? I'm happy either way. Someoneanother 12:07, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
Oh, lols, there are no separate articles for Avernum/Exile. Anyway, I updated the GF ones. Now I wonder if I am bored enough to play Avernum again and write proper articles, although they didn't get as much coverage as Geneforge did before Vogel merged the GF engine to last Avernums.—

Well there's certainly enough sources for Avernum 5, likely the same for 6, but I wouldn't fancy trying to dig up sources for the early games either. At least we're at a point where Vogel's future games are all but guaranteed to receive enough coverage. Someoneanother 14:28, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
Hehe, are you now playing Geneforge 2? —
TALK
20:38, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm about 90% through the game as a Shaper, which will enable me to get the skinny on the Barzites and the Takers directly from Barzahl. I've just restarted the game as a Guardian, a great deal of the stuff which needs individual cites comes from the early game, I'll also be able to get info from the Awakened (who I've alienated and butchered in my Shaper play-through) and get Zakary to 'fess up from this new game. Ugh, it's really time consuming, I'm writing all these quotes down by hand, and that's after I've found the relevant text to copy. Someoneanother 21:07, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, tell me about it! I've tried this with full-screen, where I needed to printscreen and then manually write down quotes. I thought about doing this for earlier Avernums but the storylines are sometimes so twisted, I get lost in quote and alternative scenario nightmares. By the way, Plot doesn't need to be sourced. I only got Avernum copy on me now, but knowing Vogel, Geneforge directories are the same, so all texts live in Scripts folder. Personally, I've always liked Avernum games better, particularly the first titles. In any case, good luck! —

Eric Schwarz

The sources you added are all primary or interviews, which are not enough to carry a bio. Also, lots of people get all sorts of buzzwords when they're talked about, so phrases like "an industry legend in the hotseat" are just puffery and nothing more. I still fail to see the notability for Schwarz; no one's covered him significantly, just interviewed him. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Otters want attention) 20:34, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

He was interviewed in relation to his work on the Amiga this year, where he is referred to as "Mr. Animation", 13 years after the interview in CU Amiga which states "Eric Schwartz made his name in the late 80s as one of the Amiga's most innovative animators." That isn't just puffery, it's a niche but nonetheless recognized specialism which has caused these video game magazines to seek him out. Per
WP:ANYBIO #2 "The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in his or her specific field." Interviews might not be the ideal sources to base articles on, but sources are not cut to fit WP's purposes, and I believe they suffice for what is a an individual in a niche area. You still haven't added an AFD banner to his article, please rectify that. Someoneanother

Hello there, 'Someone another'!!!

First of all, I wanna thank you thousand times for spending your precious time / moments to read my contributing

Dream Chronicles pages, which are contributed by my very very humble humble writing skills. :) I'm clearly not a native English speaker and yes, Dream Chronicles is my very first and headline projects on Wikipedia. I need a lot of more "working out" but I DO hope to receive the positive attitudes from an enthusiastic person like you (not exactly everyone could spend time to read those articles -- I swear!!). So... can you do it again and again? :D I'd be happy and very appreciated if you could visit those articles once a month and rate and template and whatever to show those problems / issues / grammar errors which need fixing. CAN YOU HELP ME MORE & FREQUENTLY??? Thanks first!!! *wink* OOO -- †hinhin_of_you / buzzworthy / βoy Ünder Ғlowers / Mons†er Ғierce

Angry Birds

Thanks for your recent assessment of Angry Birds. Do you have any suggestions for keeping this article growing, or things that would put the article on track for B-class or even better? I think the biggest deficiency right now is in the "development" section, so I know I'll keep looking for more on how the game came to be. --McDoobAU93 16:13, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Hey again. A lot of the changes you suggested to me last month have been made to the article. When you get some free time, would you be able to review it and see what other tweaks could be made? Thanks again for your suggestions. --McDoobAU93 20:02, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
