I was surprised today by a box informing me I had a message. To my further surprise the message accused me of vandalising an artictle I had never read. Ok, it was directed at my current IP, which my ISP assigns randomly every now and then. I'm wondering if that was an automated message or if it's up to the editor to decide. In the second case, please stop. That's like fining someone for using the same road as speeding offender..

Hi; I've added a reference to the statement in Categories for the Working Mathematician. I did want to note that the assertion you queried was not that the terms are not in common use, but rather that the distinction that Mac Lane attempted to draw is not in common use. Bourbaki defines epimorphism to mean a surjective homomorphism (in what would later be called a concrete category) and a monomorphism to mean an injective one. When Category Theory was founded, they used "epimorphism" to mean right-cancellable, while "monomorphism" was used for left-cancellable. Unfortunately, while in a concrete category every injective map is left cancellable and every surjective map is right cancellable, the notions to not coincide in general. This led to ambiguity as to the meaning of "monomorphism" and "epimorphism." Mac Lane attempted to settle this by introducing the terms "epic" and "monic" for the category-theoretical meanings, and leaving "epimorphism" and "monomorphism" the meanings from Bourbaki. However, the category theoretical meaning of "epimorphism"/"monomorphism" is already very common in many areas, and Mac Lane's distinction has never really caught on. Hello Tdvance. I must learn not to be sarcastic in edit summaries, or at least to write <sarcasm>Really? Even today?</sarcasm>. As matters stand, I don't know whether you realized my edit summary here was sarcasm. (Or maybe I didn't realize that your reply was sarcasm.) Speaking as directly as possible, I deleted the phrase "well known even today" because as a musician it strikes me as condescending, patronizing and inappropriate to apply such a phrase to artists of such stature. I see that you are vastly more experienced on Wikipedia than I am; so if you can honestly say that a statement such as "Isaac Newton, well known even today, was among the central figures..." does not sound at all silly to you as a mathematician, I will bow to your experience as a Wikipedian and not restore my edit, even though I believe it makes the article look slightly less foolish. But I'm hoping you will reconsider and revert yourself.

	She Blinded Me with Science: Smithsonian Women in Science Edit-a-Thon will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Smithsonian Archives in Washington, D.C. This edit-a-thon will focus on improving and writing Wikipedia content about women from the Smithsonian who contributed to the sciences. It will be followed by a happy hour meetup! • On Wednesday, June 11 from 7 to 9 PM come to the WikiSalon at the Cove co-working space. Hang out with Wikipedia enthusiasts!
• Saturday, June 14 is the Frederick County History Edit-a-Thon from 11 AM to 4 PM. Help improve local history on Wikipedia.
• The following Saturday, June 21, is the June Meetup. Dinner and drinks with Wikipedians!
• Come on Tuesday, June 24 for the Wikipedia in Your Library edit-a-thon at GWU on local and LGBT history.
• Last but not least, on Sunday, June 29 we have the Phillips Collection Edit-a-Thon in honor of the Made in America exhibit.

I am pleased to announce our fourth annual picnic, the Great American Wiknic, will take place at Meridian Hill Park in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, July 13 from 1 to 5 PM (rain date: July 20). We will be hanging out by the statue of Dante Alighieri, a statue that was donated to the park in 1921 as a tribute to Italian Americans. Read more about the statue on Wikipedia. July will also feature the second annual Great American Wiknic in Frederick, Maryland. This year’s Frederick picnic will take place on Sunday, July 6 at Baker Park. Sign up here for the Frederick picnic.

The WikiSalon is a special meetup usually held during the first and third full weeks of every month, from 7 PM to 9 PM. It's an informal gathering of Wikimedia enthusiasts, who come together to discuss Wikimedia wikis and collaboratively edit. There's no set agenda, and guests are welcome to recommend articles for the group to edit or edit on their own.

If you're coming by Metro, the closest station is Dupont Circle (on the Red Line). If you're driving, a lot of parking opens up downtown after 6:30 PM, so finding a parking space (even a free one) should be easy. Once you've found the building, go to Cove on the second floor. We will be in the conference room.
