Hi Vipul,
I have nominated the category you created, Category:Topological space properties, to be moved to Category:Properties of topological spaces, which is less ambiguous, and also sounds better to my ear. For the latter reason I think Category:Group properties should also be moved to Category:Properties of groups. --Trovatore 16:22, 9 May 2006 (UTC)
Hello, Vipul! I noticed your mathematics page on Quotientable automorphism. I have an A in Precalculus, and plan to take Calculus I, but even through your article is very detailed, remember that Wikipedia isn't just for smart mathematicians like you! (God knows the world needs a lot more!) Let's work together and fix it up!
- Cheers, Vipul! I'm glad to see you editing Wikipedia on such higher-level math! And yes, I totally understand your comment about that topic probably defaultly unaccessible to most readers. However, we at Wikipedia at least try to make them accessible, or at least give the general person the impression that we tried, but failed... =) Well, I can't help you much with my limited knowledge of math, but let's try ( =) ) to work on it together!

Repost of Supercompact space
Hi - I posted the section with the same name on my talk page. Could you take part in discussion ? User: Shotwell suggested (on my talk page) "I would endorse a WP:EXPERTADVICE page that outlined the wikipedia policies and goals for researchers in a way that enticed them to edit here in an appropriate fashion. Perhaps a well-maintained list of expert editors with institutional affiliation would facilitate this sort of highly informal review process. I don't think anyone would object to a well-maintained list of highly-qualified researchers with institutional affiliation (but then again, everyone seems to object to something)." We could start with that if you would agree ... - could you help to push his idea through Wikipedia bureaucracy ? Cheers, Apovolot (talk) 15:46, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Conflict of interest
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

page views
Hi Vipul, i read your blogpost (and the mailinglist discussion), very interesting. I made a little info collection about Wikipedia page views too at de:Benutzer:Atlasowa/Abrufstatistik (very messy and german, sorry). I agree "It’s still a mystery" ;-) My best shot is this: There are several factors (no specific order) and their impact is unclear:
- (1) mobile traffic replacing desktop traffic (and mobile traffic less intensive, shorter reading sessions)
- (2) Google Knowledge graph stealing Wikipedia traffic
- (3) Wikipedia page views data is really messy. My favorite Wikipedia anecdote: In February 2013 a Swedish user asked Wikitech for Page view stats we can believe in, meaning page views that are made by humans: "Last quote I got (in April?) is that overall 40% of traffic is bot related. That could be more now. And it's far more for smaller projects, and for link-intensive Wiktionary, and for those languages of Wikipedia that create articles by bots, such as Dutch, Swedish, Vietnamese and Volapük. This bot-created article about a spider Acantheis variatus "has been viewed 12 times in the last 30 days", but only by bots? Bots creating articles and bots reading them, what a joke! And they are creating articles about spiders!" :-)) (Wikitech-l: Page views, Apr 2012; Wikitech-l: Bots create page views, Aug 2012)
- (4) Transparent Caching by ISPs may be another unknown factor

Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as H-1A visa. You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 21:57, 4 July 2016 (UTC)

It's really considerate of you to detail the incentives and payments you are providing to the students working for you. - I don't receive payment from people for creating Wikipedia pages. I fund the creation from my own personal funds. Neither I nor the people I pay contact Wikipedia page subjects to propose the creation of pages about them. Our contact with the subjects of the pages usually occurs only in cases where we want to have them go through pages and highlight any factual errors (after we have drafted it), but any feedback they give is only implemented if we can find reliable independent sources for the updated information. We have not done this (i.e., reached out to the subjects of pages, or been contacted by them) for any of the timeline pages. Vipul (talk) 17:00, 20 August 2016 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Coinfloor
The article Coinfloor has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- A highly promotional article on an unremarkable private company. Sections include "The People": "Coinfloor is a team with experience in bitcoin, security, analytics, technology and financial services", etc, while the lead discusses company's "commitment to user security and user asset protection". I've not been able to find coverage that is not PR driven, hence the nomination.

Spam blacklisting
Are you aware that sites that you and/or the people working for you added as citations and external links in Wikipedia articles, are being added to the spam blacklist and removed from articles? It's basically a form of well poisoning. See, e.g., Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard#Nolo.com, MediaWiki_talk:Spam-blacklist#econlib.org, MediaWiki_talk:Spam-blacklist/archives/March_2017#Immigration_law_refspam_round_3, and MediaWiki_talk:Spam-blacklist#visajourney.com. People (especially User:JzG) are assuming that if you or your people added links to those sites, it means that the owners of those sites were trying to spam Wikipedia for pecuniary gain.
It seems that either people haven't read #Paid_editing_2, or they don't believe what you wrote there, because they're still saying you were after some SEO-related goal that's harmful to Wikipedia. N I H I L I S T I C (talk) 02:21, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on AlchemyAPI, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See Wikipedia:FAQ/Businessfor more information.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
Hello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to [email protected], so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at [email protected].
Thank you!

Updates to Silicon Valley Community Foundation
Hello User:Vipul. I work with Silicon Valley Community Foundation and see that you are the editor who created the initial page about the organization back in 2013. I know I cannot make edits to the page myself since I have a COI, but was wondering if you might have some time and the desire to help with some updates. Since the page primarily covers the history of the organization, I would like to consider adding something about what we currently do. Below is some content about a few SVCF initiatives/programs, along with properly formatted sources. Would you be able to review the content to see if it is suitable to add to the article? I would greatly appreciate it. I may have a few more updates soon, including a better version of our logo. Thank you and best ChauSVCF (talk) 22:17, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
Grantmaking and partnerships
LatinXCEL Fund In May of 2021, The Silicon Valley Community Foundation in partnership with the Castellano Family Foundation started the LatinXCEL Fund to provide grants to Latinx-led, and Latino-serving nonprofit organizations in Silicon Valley. 2021 grant recipients include the Alliance for Youth Achievement, the California Collaborative for Immigrant Justice, Opera Cultura, Nuestra Casa de East Palo Alto and the Latina Coalition of Silicon Valley (LCSV).[1] https://www.insidephilanthropy.com/home/2021/11/15/the-latinxcel-fund-is-serving-a-big-need-in-silicon-valley-heres-where-its-first-grants-are-going
Community Advisory Council In October of 2020, Silicon Valley Community Foundation launched a Community Advisory Council that includes a panel of 22 Bay Area members representing local nonprofit organizations. The council oversees the implementation of SVCF’s goal to focus on local vulnerable populations such as low-income households, immigrants, and communities of color.[2]
The Big Lift Launched in 2012, The Big Lift is a public-private partnership of San Mateo County, the San Mateo County Office of Education, and the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. The objective of the program is improving literacy among San Mateo County children. In July of 2021, the program received $1 million in state funding. As of that same year, The Big Lift had served more than 10,000 children.[3]
